Lived Experiences Of Preparedness Of Dual Credit Students For The State Of Texas Assessments Of Academic Readiness Exams: A Phenomenological Qualitative Study, Susan Fields Speights
Lived Experiences Of Preparedness Of Dual Credit Students For The State Of Texas Assessments Of Academic Readiness Exams: A Phenomenological Qualitative Study, Susan Fields Speights
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand the experiences of academic preparedness to pass the state-mandated standardized test requirements to receive higher educational level course credit for students previously enrolled in dual enrollment courses at higher educational institutions on a Texas High School Campus. The theories that guided this study was Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Rumelhart and Norman’s modes of learning. Maslow’s theory and Rumelhart and Norman’s theory guided the research study and questions when examining the shared experiences of dual credit students taking state assessments. The central research question in this study was: What are the …

The Under-Enrollment Of Black And Latino Students In Stem Education: A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Study Of Vygotsky's Social Development Theory, Johnny Anderson
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this phenomenological study is to explore the lived experiences of the under-enrollment of Black and Latino students in STEM programs in the Northeastern region of the United States. The problem is the impact of social development on the under-enrollment of Black and Latino students in STEM programs. As noted by Max van Manen, the qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological approach utilizes the social development theory by Lev Vygotsky as the theoretical framework to comprise an unbiased explanation of the research. The central research question, “What are the lived experiences of the under-enrollment of Black and Latino students in STEM …

What is new?
While Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have, in recent years, placed greater emphasis on promoting good research practices, it is yet relatively unknown what leadership approaches are best suited to cultivating a positive culture of research integrity (RI) in HEIs. This small-scale exploratory descriptive study therefore sought to uncover initial findings from within the European context on practices research leaders found to be most effective in leading positive change in this space.
What was the approach?
The design was constructed using semi-structured interviews with five senior research leaders. Countries that were members of the European Network of Research …

Large language models such as ChatGPT provide efficient access to a wealth of information. However, there are significant questions regarding the depth and quality of knowledge in any one domain. This paper focuses specifically on the information systems (IS) field and assesses ChatGPT’s knowledge. To analyze the extent and quality of information systems knowledge derived from queries to ChatGPT, we used over 3,000 queries from a broad range of exam and quiz questions. These queries were obtained from university courses and professional information system certification exams. The query topics are based on a framework for information systems education, with queries …

Use Of Simulation In Dietetic Internships: A Qualitative Exploration Of Program Director Attitudes And Motivations, Theresa B. O'Reilly, Amy J. Nwora, Megan Whelan, Mary-Pat Maciolek
Journal of Dietetic Education
The use of simulation holds promise for the future of dietetics education for its use as an alternative for up to 30% of the 1,000 supervised practice hours for the training of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists. Even more so, simulation is a teaching tool. When done well, simulation can challenge students in a safe environment where they can receive constructive feedback from expert guides and meaningfully reflect on their learning. The purpose of this study was to interview dietetic internship (DI) program directors on their attitudes and motivations on the use of simulation in their programs, targeting the heavily program-congested states …

Journal of Dietetic Education
Aim: To evaluate the impact of a conceptual diagram assessment task on dietetic student knowledge of and confidence applying the Nutrition Care Process. Methods: Situated within a pragmatic research paradigm, this mixed methods study applied a survey administered before and after a conceptual diagram assessment task using the Nutrition Care Process to explore changes in student knowledge, self-reported confidence, perceptions towards the Nutrition Care Process, and student experience. Nineteen students enrolled in a first-semester unit within a Master level dietetic course completed the assessment task, which visually presented a client case sourced from the student-run clinic within the Nutrition Care …
