Development Of An It Balanced Scorecard, Theophilus B.A. Addo, Chee W. Chow, Kamal M. Haddad
Journal of International Technology and Information Management
There is a generally acknowledged dearth of metrics for effectively measuring organizational performance. This is particularly true of the IT function, whose contribution to a firm’s “bottom line” has been frequently called to question. This paper describes the development of a performance measurement tool called the Balanced Scorecard, which can be used to assess IT performance within the context of overall corporate strategy and financial performance. Data for the scorecard was obtained via a survey of senior IT executives in various organizations. The paper concludes with a set of guidelines for successfully implementing an IT Balanced Scorecard, as well as …

Information Technology Evaluation Practices Among Malaysian Banks, Woon Hooi Shyen
Information Technology Evaluation Practices Among Malaysian Banks, Woon Hooi Shyen
Student Works (2000-2009)
Globalization and liberalization has necessitated the banking industry at large to use information technology (IT) to gain competitive advantage. This is evidence from the increasing expenditure over the last decade on IT. Accompanied by such high investment in IT, there is a demand for measures to evaluate IT in its proper perspective so that it delivers the value it promises. Traditional capital budgeting or accounting methods may not be sufficient to address the complexities of an IT evaluation process. IT evaluation therefore requires a socio-technical framework which sets linkages between the content, process and context within which it is performed. …

Corporate Risk Analysis: A Reckless Act?, W. Kip Viscusi
Vanderbilt Law School Faculty Publications
Balancing of risk and cost lies at the heart of standard negligence tests and policy analysis approaches to government regulation. Notwithstanding the desirability of using a benefit-cost approach to assess the merits of safety measures, in many court cases juries appear to penalize corporations for having done a risk analysis in instances in which the company decided not to make a safety improvement after the analysis indicated the improvement was unwarranted Automobile accident cases provide the most prominent examples of such juror sanctions. This paper tests the effect of corporate risk analyses experimentally by using a sample of almost 500 …

Bulletin 4387 - Women In Agriculture In Western Australia 1999, Agriculture Western Australia
Bulletins 4000 -
WESTERN Australian women in agriculture contribute huge economic, social and community benefits to industry, to the rural sector, and to the State overall. That this contribution is not fully acknowledged, is perhaps due to the lack of clear data; many economic or social measures do not disaggregate data by gender, despite women's and men's roles being very different. Other measures are based on outdated assumptions about how work is done, and by whom.

Australian Economy, R S. Kingwell, Juliann Lloyd-Smith
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

Mathematical Programming Model Of Western Australian Dairy Farms, G R. Olney, D A. Falconer
Animal production and livestock research reports
A profit maximising mathematical programming dairy farm model has been developed which determines the most profitable management strategies for the full year. This model was initially an extension of the one used in the Western Australian Dairy Feed Management Service (DFMS) which determines the most profitable ration to feed for a specific period, the milk yield per cow and the number of cows to milk. The DFMS is useful for formulating a ration for a specific period, particularly during summer on non-irrigated farms in Western Australia when complete hand feeding is required, but it cannot be used to determine optimum …

A Theory Of Formal Organization And Its Acceptance By The Business Practitioner, Edgar Thomas Busch
A Theory Of Formal Organization And Its Acceptance By The Business Practitioner, Edgar Thomas Busch
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Formal organization theory has evolved from the traditional school of thought through the scientific management and behavioral schools and into what is currently called open system theory. In spite of voluminous writing by the academician, no school of thought or no theory has been universally accepted. This may be due to the failure to consult the businessman who interprets and applies theoretical concepts to the practical situation. The purpose of this study was to help clear the theory jungle by determining the extent to which a sample of business practitioners agreed with basic factors of a comprehensive theory of formal …
