International Conference on Business and Management Research (ICBMR)
This study explores the impact of fintech innovations and strategies on the operational efficiency and service quality of Islamic financial services in Indonesia, emphasizing their alignment with Islamic financial principles. Using a descriptive quantitative methodology, the research employs digital content analysis of online reviews and social media discussions to uncover key themes. Advanced analytic techniques, including topic modeling with Gibbs Sampling for Dirichlet Multinomial Mixture (GSDMM) and cosine similarity for inter-topic correlation analysis, are applied to data sourced from various digital platforms. The findings reveal three dominant themes: media and community interaction, the performance and services of Islamic financial institutions, …
Reinforcement Learning Approaches For Intelligent Budget Management: A Comparison Of Traditional Budget Model With Q-Learning, And Deep Q-Network Models, Danish Yaqub
Create@State
This study explores the application of Reinforcement Learning (RL) techniques to improve personal budget management and financial decision-making. A traditional rule-based budgeting model is first developed as a baseline approach, where income is allocated to expenses, savings, and debt payments using fixed financial ratios and predefined rules. Although this approach provides a structured framework for financial planning, it lacks adaptability and cannot dynamically optimize decisions when financial conditions change. To address these limitations, two reinforcement learning models—Q-Learning and Deep Q-Network (DQN) are implemented and compared with the traditional budgeting model. In the Q-Learning model, an agent interacts with simulated financial states …
Which Ai For What? An Ai Value Index For Small Business Adoption, Ahesanul Karim Abid
Which Ai For What? An Ai Value Index For Small Business Adoption, Ahesanul Karim Abid
Create@State
Every day, millions of small business owners hear the same advice: use AI to grow your business. But when they look at the options — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek – they face an overwhelming question with no clear answer: which one should I actually use for my specific business need?
This question needs a fact-backed answer. Small businesses make up nearly all U.S. companies, about 99.9%, and employ close to half the country's workforce. Yet they adopt AI at rates 38 percentage points lower than large corporations. The issue is not cost. The issue is that no one has …

Sentiment Analysis Of Public Commentary On U.S. Farm Bills, Frank Tenkorang, Fletcher Ziwoya
Sentiment Analysis Of Public Commentary On U.S. Farm Bills, Frank Tenkorang, Fletcher Ziwoya
Mountain Plains Business Conference
This study applies sentiment analysis to public commentary on U.S. farm bills to assess patterns of support and opposition. Using Reddit posts from relevant subreddits, we employed two natural language processing models, VADER and RoBERTa, to evaluate sentiment over time. While both models yielded differing sentiment distributions, they revealed increased public engagement during farm bill years, particularly in 2018. Most sentiments were neutral, but negative opinions outweighed positive ones. Posts with stronger sentiments tended to attract more user interaction, especially controversial ones. These findings highlight the polarized yet active public discourse surrounding agricultural policy and the potential for data-driven policy …
Combating Forced Labor: Innovative Data Solutions For Risk Assessments, Jill Dewitt, Valerie Cho
Combating Forced Labor: Innovative Data Solutions For Risk Assessments, Jill Dewitt, Valerie Cho
SMU Human Trafficking Data Conference
Today’s global market demands that businesses ensure their supply chains are free from human rights violations, especially forced labor. Due to the increasing regulatory, commercial, and reputational stakes, it is crucial to identify and address these risks. However, firms must manage forced labor risks for compliance purposes while navigating a lack of data visibility and compliance complexities. Moody’s and The Rights Lab are leveraging data and technology to assist businesses in identifying and mitigating the risk of forced labor within their supply chains. By utilizing technology for data collection, they can pinpoint risks in three key areas: industry, geography, and …

Predicting Hazardous Near-Earth Objects Using Machine Learning for Planetary Defense
This research develops a machine learning model to classify Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) as hazardous or non-hazardous based on their physical and orbital characteristics, leveraging NASA's dataset of certified NEOs. NEOs, including asteroids and comets, often pass within close proximity to Earth, and while most pose no threat, some have the potential for catastrophic impacts. By using predictive models such as decision trees and random forests, this study aims to prioritize resources for monitoring and mitigation of high-risk objects. The model incorporates key features like velocity, diameter, and proximity to Earth …
Using Business Databases To Inform Data Privacy Practices, James Henry Smith
Using Business Databases To Inform Data Privacy Practices, James Henry Smith
Midwest Business Librarian Summit (MBLS)
Data Privacy is an active practice that requires users to actively participate in informed consenting for their personal data protection. Part of that process is gathering information about the companies that request access to users data. In this lightning talk, an information literacy librarian will walk participants through the metacognitive process of deciding which data to share with companies when interacting with their online interfaces. This process starts with acknowledging the value of personal data collection, then a walk through which business databases users can engage with to better understand how their data exhaust is bought and sold to data …

The Neuroscience Of Safe Gaming: How To Use Wellness Content, Mary Donohue Dr.
The Neuroscience Of Safe Gaming: How To Use Wellness Content, Mary Donohue Dr.
International Conference on Gambling & Risk Taking
Anselme and Robinson suggest that “the motivation to gamble is strongly (though not entirely) determined by the inability to predict reward occurrence and is linked to having too much dopamine in the brain.” An excess of dopamine in some parts of the brain and lesser amounts in others is linked to mood changes, and in particular a decrease in impulse control and an increase in competitiveness. The gaming business wants to avoid reckless gambling and is engaged in research to find evidence-based tools that lower the reactions associated with high dopamine levels. One such tool is a digital therapeutic called …

Identifying Appropriate Strategies To Sell Tesla Automobiles In Ohio, Trever Maughmer
ONU Student Research Colloquium
Segmentation data serves as an important resource used in business research. It encapsulates people who live in certain areas according to similar demographic traits, behaviors and habits, and consumer trends. Companies such as ESRI make their segmentation data available for a price, along with highly-specialized analysis tools. This project is a case study that examines the utility of ESRI segmentation data and tools to identify a suitable marketing strategy for potential customers in specific locations in Ohio. It further identifies population segments in certain geographic areas according to consumer trends and demographic characteristics. Unlike traditional brick-and-mortar (B&M) dealerships, this project …
