Determinants Of Foreign Direct Investment In Oman Determinants Of Foreign Direct Investment In Oman, Ahmed Al-Khamisi, Hani Albasoos
Journal of Arts and Social Sciences
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has changed worldwide due to the acute financial and economic crises that the world has witnessed in the last decades. The world economy changed rapidly, where many states became hostile towards FDI, particularly in conflict zones. Such an attitude has changed since many countries realized the benefits of FDI and its contribution to their economies. The research uses a qualitative method to provide more substantial evidence for the findings through convergences and rationale of finding. It will also increase the generalization of the results and adds to a better understanding of FDI and encourage researchers to …
Hyperrationality And Rhetorical Constellations In Digital Climate Change Denial: A Multi-Methodological Analysis Of The Discourse Of Watts Up With That, Denise Tillery, Emma Frances Bloomfield
Hyperrationality And Rhetorical Constellations In Digital Climate Change Denial: A Multi-Methodological Analysis Of The Discourse Of Watts Up With That, Denise Tillery, Emma Frances Bloomfield
English Faculty Research
Using a multi-methodological approach, we analyze member comments in Watts Up With That (WUWT), a climate skeptical Facebook group. Quantitative topic modeling revealed that members claim hyperrationality to undermine climate science. Science-based terms were often connected to other topics, such as immigration and LGBTQ+ rights, creating rhetorical constellations that shifted rhetoric from technical spaces into political and ideological ones. These findings have implications for dealing with the challenge of misinformation’s circulation on social media.

Sources Of Information About Covid-19 Among Older Adults In Ghana, 2019-2021, Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, Emmanuel Akwasi Asante
Journal of Social, Behavioral, and Health Sciences
The COVID-19 pandemic sparked a worldwide search for information. Information about COVID-19 is crucial and it could be the first step toward designing practical disease-control strategies. Misinformation amid the widespread information about COVID-19 has undoubtedly caused psychological distress, especially among older adults. We present an empirical and descriptive study of the sources of information among older adults and how they perceived the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 58 participants were recruited and interviewed using an in-depth semi-structured interview and structured questionnaire for our study. The study participants were recruited using purposive and convenience sampling in their respective homes from Mallam, …

The Gaelic Background Of Old English Poetry Before Bede, Colin A. Ireland
The Gaelic Background Of Old English Poetry Before Bede, Colin A. Ireland
Richard Rawlinson Center Series
Seventh-century Gaelic law-tracts delineate professional poets (filid) who earned high social status through formal training. These poets cooperated with the Church to create an innovative bilingual intellectual culture in Old Gaelic and Latin. Bede described Anglo-Saxon students who availed themselves of free education in Ireland at this culturally dynamic time. Gaelic scholars called sapientes (“wise ones”) produced texts in Old Gaelic and Latin that demonstrate how Anglo-Saxon students were influenced by contact with Gaelic ecclesiastical and secular scholarship. Seventh-century Northumbria was ruled for over 50 years by Gaelic-speaking kings who could access Gaelic traditions. Gaelic literary traditions provide …

Basque Studies At Boise State University, Ziortza Gandarias Beldarrain, Nere Lete
World Languages Faculty Publications and Presentations
Boise, the capital of Idaho that we Basques feel so close to and our own despite being far from the Basque Country, is a twinned city with Gernika-Lumo, known to us as the "eighth Basque province". Today, 12-15,000 people of Basque origin live in the state of Idaho. It can be unanimously said that the history of Boise and the history of the Basque diaspora have gone hand in hand since the discovery of gold in the American River in California in 1849. The first Basques arrived in Idaho in 1890, when silver was discovered in De Lamar and Silver …
