Revelation And Qur’Anic Prophecy In Its Historical Surroundings A Presentation Of The Classic And Contemporary Orientalist Sayings, Shaheed Kareem Mohammad
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
This research intends to reconsider (stability and repetition) or circular motion in the Orientalist lesson related to the Holy Qur’an and the sources of revelation and prophethood, given that the researcher barely finds anything new in studying the classic or recent Orientalist sayings. The reason for this is not the shortcoming of components of the Orientalist method but the submission to the religious and intellectual ideology of the Orientalists, who often adopt the denial of the divine source of the Holy Qur’an and claim that The Holy Qur’an had been formed from a mixture of biblical knowledge (Jewish and Christian) …

An Enterprise Risk Management Framework To Design Pro-Ethical Ai Solutions, Quintin P. Mcgrath
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has immediate business benefits for an organization and its stakeholders through efficiency and quality gains, and the potential to explore and implement new business models. However, there are risks of unintended ethical consequences. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) focuses on managing risk while maximizing business value from exploiting opportunities. Using applied ethics as a basis and the perspective that ethics includes both enabling human flourishing and not violating accepted norms, I argue that greater business value is achieved when an organization simultaneously targets the maximization of benefits and the minimization of harms for the …

Tennis In Transition, Richard C. Crepeau
Tennis In Transition, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
Over the past few months, I have written this column only a few times, the last being late July. This has not been because I have had nothing to comment upon. Rather the summer has been filled with travel, some to escape the heat of Florida. Over the past few days, I have been trying to decide how to restart. Many topics have shot by over the past three months, any number of which could now be subjects for this column. Not the least of these are the passing of two giants of contemporary American sport: Bill Russell in basketball …
Selfless Selfishness: The Me And We Of Individuality, Jacob Bennett
Selfless Selfishness: The Me And We Of Individuality, Jacob Bennett
Taboo: The Journal of Culture and Education
In this provocation, I argue against contributors to the global publication The Economist that the biggest threat to western liberalism is not equity but rather an incomplete and misplaced definition of individualism. Such a definition does not take the history of racism in the context of the United States (U.S.) into consideration. Through lessons taught by a heyoka of the Oglala Lakota people, Black Elk, a refined conceptualization of individuality could center both the personal and communal to set the stage for truly equitable policy development within the U.S.

Cutting As A Literacy Practice: Exploring The Fractured Body, Desire And Rage Through Queer And Trans*+ Youth Embodiments, Bess Van Asselt
Taboo: The Journal of Culture and Education
By attending to the ways in which cutting manifests in the life histories of three queer and trans*+ youth of color, I argue that cutting is a literacy practice. I focus on the life histories of three youth, Jay, Harper and Sam, who have different experiences, reasons for, and reactions to their cutting. With each story, we learn something new about the act and how it pushes us to the brink of literacy pedagogy. Jay’s narrative forces us to reckon with youth who refuse to or cannot maintain their bodily integrity. Harper’s story brings to the fore the violence of …

Update: The “Familiar Spirit” In 2 Nephi 26:12, Paul Y. Hoskisson
Insights: The Newsletter of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship
There are two ways to read a text, through exegesis and through eisegesis. The first means, approximately, “reading out of the text,” while the second means, approximately, “reading into the text.” Both are legitimate ways of approaching a text. Anyone who reads the scriptures will at times engage in both exegesis and eisegesis, whether knowingly or unwittingly. Therefore, the more conscientiously and consciously we engage in rigorous and careful exegesis and eisegesis, the better the chance that our reading of the scriptures will truly enlighten the mind and provide substance for the soul. I will illustrate both approaches using the …
