Disability As A Motif For Creativity: Philippe Croizon’S Experience In Theater And Cinema, Yassine Slimani

Jerash for Research and Studies Journal مجلة جرش للبحوث والدراسات

Disability is defined as a case of an emotional or physical deviation that hinders the individual from satisfying his natural needs in life due to the inability of performing the physiological or psychological tasks. Based on the social status-quo of the disabled, we notice that he is generally seen as a person who needs pity and is generally downgraded, bullied, and excluded. However, there are many disabled individuals who overcame this definition and vision and defied their disability circumstances and became creative in many domains. Their creativity became a real model even for non-disabled individuals such as Philippe Croizon who …

Jerash for Research and Studies Journal مجلة جرش للبحوث والدراسات

This research deals with the rhetorical assertion in Surah Ash-Shu'ara by studying the methods, in which the rhetorical assertion is mentioned in this surah and its relationship with the connotation. The French Socialists and Moroccan at the Beginning of the XX Century

At the beginning of the 20th century, the French socialists did not form a strong and active political party in its struggle against the policy pursued by the government of Paris. Many parties had come together to form 1901 two socialist parties: the socialist party of France around Jules Guesde and the French Socialist Party around Jean Jaures. Admittedly, French socialism had become part of national political life because of the attachment of its militants to the republican regime, but it was far "despite great efforts from …

Andre Gide or Bifid Writing

This study on the relationship between space and writing in Gide aims to show that this category of experience, quite often considered in its apparent stasis as sterile and less relevant, and having suffered unfairly, in the innumerable works that have been done on the work and life of Gide, of a certain marginalization, fulfills and fully accomplishes its role of revealing the great themes deeply and firmly anchored in the psyche of the writer.

The Characters In Tahar Ben Jelloun’s Solitary Reclusion (semiological approach)

“For a semiological status of the character-'D is the title of a study by Philippe Hamon in which he traces the fundamental lines of a semio-Jogy of the character. He distinguishes it from historical, sociological, psychological, psychoanalytical and logical approaches. Conceived as a sign inscribed in the text, which is a system of linguistic signs, the character is the subject of a theoretical elaboration. Several criteria define its status: the “discontinuous signifier” or “label” (set of marks relating to the character dispersed in the text), the “discontinuous signified” (the meaning …

F. Scott Fitzgerald and the Politics of

“THE UNFINISHED” IN THE GREAT GATSBY

It seems that every writer, when he tries to close a story, always obeys the same purpose: not to bring a conclusion to his text as a whole, but rather to specify that he has nothing more to say, that he can't or doesn't mean anything anymore. The concept of incompleteness. - which is only an internal border - offers an example of the "void" that it is possible to study in Literary texts. Formerly, writers spoke of this incompletion as a reality inherent in the very …

On Grammaticality Judgement Tasks In Second Language Acquisition Reasearch, Brahim Simour

Dirassat

The purpose of the present article is to consider some important metho- dological problems having to do with the techniques of elicitation of inter- language (henceforth IL) data. Researchers in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) generally make use of two main sorts of data: intuitional data and tex- tual data. The former broadly refer to learner's metalinguistic judgments and represent the dominating trend in the eighties, whereas the latter consist pri- marily of learner productions and were dominating in the seventies. Here, we will be particularly interested in the elicitation of intuitional data because of two fundamental reasons : the first …

Analysis of "BEN" in the Story of Arabic -Speaking Migrants Working in France

We propose here to examine in the discourse of a group of Arabic-speaking migrants (working in the North of France for about twenty years), the functioning of one of the markers that the speaker has the possibility of inserting in an utterance where, often for reasons of difficulty of formulation but also for different reasons, the spoken chain has been interrupted. Almost all of these phenomena are part of a group of elements called “conversation structuring markers” by Roulet et al. (1985), “discourse support” by F. Deloffore …

Morphology in Functional Grammar

It is commonly accepted that in any natural language, the word comes under two classes: the basic word and the derived word. The relationship established between these two types of words is a derivation relationship insofar as the derived word has as input the basic word.

Our objective in the present work is to give an account of the place of morphology (whether it is derivational or inflectional) in Functional Grammar (GF, henceforth). To do this, we will be leads to answering the following questions:

(i) How is word structure represented in grammar?

(ii) What is …

An Imaginary* Interview With A Philippines Collections Museum Donor, Camille Ungco

Journal of Southeast Asian American Education and Advancement

Ontological distance is the dehumanization that emerges from uninterrogated coloniality between colonized subjects and the oppressive systems. This distancing has occurred in the histories of U.S. teachers both domestic-based and abroad, especially in Southeast Asia. In Steinbock-Pratt’s (2019) historiography on the relationships between early 1900s U.S. teachers and their Filipinx students, ontological distance was “The crux of the colonial relationship was intimacy marked by closeness without understanding, suasion backed by violence, and affection bounded by white and American supremacy” (Steinbock-Pratt, 2019, p. 214). This dehumanizing psychological or ontological distance existed during U.S. colonial regimes abroad, specifically in Southeast Asia and …

Children As Design Visionaries, Learners, And Socio-Political Wayfinders: Mapping The Layers, Hierarchies, And Rhythms Of A School Community, Natalie R. Davis, Roni Barsoum

Occasional Paper Series

Despite the seemingly intractable problems of public schooling, we (as researchers and dreamers) remain encouraged by the persistent efforts to reconfigure and reimagine the sociopolitical landscape of schools. We begin this essay by recognizing the work of individuals bravely and imperfectly expanding notions of what schools could and should be. We stand in solidarity with the innovators sowing, designing, and reaching toward more just social futures, dreaming of schools for children that are not so distant from the paradise Butler (2001) describes (Figure 1). This liberatory dreamwork coincides with long histories of communal ingenuity (Vossoughi et al., 2016), resistance against …

Cordel Corrido: What Are The Implications Of Creating A New Narrative Voice For Education?, Marco Ag Cerqueira

Northwest Journal of Teacher Education

In this article the author proposes queering the teaching of Brazilian and Mexican popular poetry, cordel and corrido, for students in high school or freshmen in college engaging with a curriculum of the brown bodies and aesthetic currere. The author criticizes the teaching of canonic literature in classrooms usually written by white, straight, and middle-class men, and proposes teaching popular poetry from Latin America as a project to interrupt that canon. Teaching and encouraging students to write poetry is a way to oppose the epistemicide in classrooms, and students of color (African descendants, Native peoples, and with roots in Latin …

Reviving Knowledges Through Play And Resistance: The Case Of Navajo Conceptions Of Space, Daniel Ness, Richard D. Sawyer

Northwest Journal of Teacher Education

The authors explore a possible cause of epistemicidal predispositions of the dominant Eurocentric curricula. They posit that one way to determine a plausible contributing factor of this increasing devastation is to consider epistemicide through the lens of intellectual development. To do this, the authors examine parallel patterns of behavior in the domains of developmental and cognitive psychology. The authors then discuss an alternative framework to the Western conception of space within formal K-12 education by presenting the Navajo conception of space and play. Throughout the paper, the authors argue that all students—and especially those living in poverty in commercially constructed, …

Introduction To Confronting Teacher Preparation Epistemicide: Art, Poetry, And Teacher Resistance, Richard D. Sawyer, Daniel Ness

Northwest Journal of Teacher Education

In this special issue, we present different perspectives from a documentary project on curricular epistemicide. We view curriculum epistemicide —the annihilation of curriculum—as an embodied process. It limits ways of knowing, questioning, and envisioning the world, and it constricts multiplicity and erases identity and culture. Authors within this volume responded to two requests: 1) they examined some form of epistemicide; and 2) they did not reinforce current systems of power and inequity. Throughout the issue, poetry and photography weave through theoretical papers and empirical studies. A range of methodologies are considered within the articles.
