This thesis examines Art Across the Park (1980 and 1982), a program of sculpture and performance conceived of by artist David Hammons sited throughout overlooked regions of New York City’s public parks. Amidst debates about the proper use of public space and the role of public art in the early 1980s, Art Across the Park asserted a more culturally expansive model of being in social space, one rooted in strategies of performance as an antidote to lasting effects of social control.

In this thesis, I attempt to explore the possibility of representing terrorism in literature by analyzing four literary works: Paris (1898), La Condition Humaine (1933), Nada (1973), and Khalil (2018). These four works depict four different stages of the development of terrorism from the late 19th century to the 21st century. I will use these literary works to analyze the relationship between terrorism and capitalist modernity.

This thesis will explore C.S. Lewis’ theology of supernatural providence as depicted in Perelandra, the Silver Chair, and Till We Have Faces. Each novel involves characters who doubt the existence of divine involvement in their life. Lewis repeatedly describes the supernatural as intruding upon the mundane, closely resembling his account of encountering and converting to the Christian God. All three novels feature characters who come to doubt their sanity when in contact with spiritual beings, introducing a darker element to Lewis’ view of supernatural orchestration particularly in light of Lewis’ experience with mental illness. Asian Americans, due to not being a homogenous ethnic group, experience health disparities that are different to those that other ethnic groups experience. The construct of individual accountability has been tested by two prior studies including Frink et al. (2018), finding that individual accountability is a second-order construct in which the components focus, intensity, and salience are loaded, as well as Verwaeren and Nijstad (2021) who found that individual accountability focus is a two-factor construct (process and outcome). The purpose of this thesis is to provide an in-depth look at the design process for the Nebraska Repertory Theater’s production of Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, which performed in November 2022. This process includes research that facilitated early design conversations, documentation that relayed information necessary for implementation, and additional materials typically used as reference for a lighting designer.
