The borders in Africa were drawn according to the interests of colonial powers and without consideration of the continent’s ethnic, cultural, and linguistic realities. Thus, roughly 80% of African countries borders were drawn without considering the crucial and pre-existing realities of pre-colonial African societies, splitting ethnically and culturally homogenous groups and grouping diverse others under the same political unit. (Beck, 1993; Lefebvre, 2011). Consequently, many African countries end up with an ethnically diverse population that faces the challenge of living harmoniously together in social cohesion, creating an environment prone to ethnic conflicts, political instabilities, and weak national identities. This post-qualitative study explores work-life balance as a sustaining fantasy produced by neoliberal, patriarchal, productivity-driven systems and how this fantasy manifests affectively for mothers who work in community colleges. The study began by contextualizing the work-life balance fantasy within higher education as a gendered workscape. Using intimate inquiry (Laura, 2013) and aesthetic meditation as the primary approaches, the researcher engaged in conversations with participants about their experiences mothering and working in community colleges. The primary data sources were these conversations, participant artifacts, researcher self-reflection and artifacts, and a range of contemporary cultural texts including podcasts, poetry, television, social media posts …

Black male teachers comprise 2% of the teacher population in the United States. In light of this disparity, there is a need to diversify the teacher workforce by recruiting and retaining Black male teachers. Black teachers are influential in students’ academic performance and personal growth. Without their presence, we are missing a key demographic and a key part of a student's educational experience. While Black male teachers’ experiences have been studied, we are less clear on the motivational processes behind their decision to teach. This study includes six contemporary literary texts (novels and short stories) that offer exemplary representations of identification process of the Caribbean diaspora situated within American context. Substantial research has indicated that blind and visually impaired adults often do not meet physical activity guidelines, and therefore, are not experiencing the numerous affordances of physical activity participation. However, those who report meeting physical activity guidelines express higher rates of health-related quality of life. Largely, the research examining the physical activity behaviors and perspectives of blind and visually impaired adults have been survey studies leaving a rich description of their physical activity experiences unexplored. The author explores the transformative potential of using acting, translanguaging, and collaborative devising as tools for linguistic and personal development among English Language Learners (ELLs). Through a reflective narrative of teaching Acting I to ELL students, the paper delves into the challenges and successes encountered in integrating acting, translanguaging, and devising into the curriculum. Emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between acting and language learning, the author discusses how expressive language development, vocabulary acquisition, and enhanced pronunciation skills were cultivated. The majority of transnational Islamic groups in Indonesia come from the Middle East, which emphasizes various missions, such as purification and political ideology, and some others are Salafi-jihadist. Over the past several weeks, the world of college sports has witnessed considerable turmoil and the prospect of major change. The future of the NCAA is in doubt, at least in its current form. The myth of the “student athlete” under the banner of amateurism is dead. The term should be laid to rest and never be seen in print again. It was a fabricated term created by former NCAA president, Walter Byers, designed to allow the NCAA to keep the money earned from intercollegiate athletics for itself, and out of the hands of the athletes.

Dr. Maggie Vinter has been the specialist in Early Modern (pre-1800) literature and Shakespeare at Case Western Reserve University’s English Department for the last eleven years. Prior to that, she received her doctorate degree at Johns Hopkins University in 2013. Karamu House, initially established as an integrated settlement house in 1915, later became an influential community theater in Cleveland, Ohio. By examining how an integrated theater shifted into prominently producing radical Black artistry, this article will uncover how Black Nationalism and Black Power changed the leadership, artistry, and goals of Karamu House. The 2023 closing of the Rock “n” Roll Camp for Girls (founded in Portland, Oregon in 2001) was due to many factors, some of which were present in its founding. Using interviews, scholarly literature, and archival materials from the camp, this paper explores elements contributing to its end, including changing categories of gender, dynamic ideas about what constitutes women’s and girls’ empowerment, an altered music industry landscape, changes in technology, and rampant gentrification.
