This research, entitled: Features of Comparative Jurisprudence according to Imam Ibn Mawdud al-Mawsili al-Hanafi (d. 683 AH) through his book Al-Ikhtiyar li’l Jalīl Al-Mukhtar, aims to: explain the description of the printed book from the book Al-Ikhtār li’l Al-Mukhtar, compare its manuscript version on which the investigators relied, and show the features of comparative jurisprudence in Imam Ibn Mawdud Al-Mawsili, and what was his approach to preferences and their discussion, and his presentation of comparative jurisprudential issues within and outside the Hanafi school of thought.

The Process Of Healing Individual And Communal Traumatic Experiences Through Natural And Cultural Reconnection In Silko’S Ceremony, Zeina Y. Ghanem

International Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities

Trauma is central in Leslie Silko's Ceremony (1977), however, Tayo and the Laguna Pueblo community also experience healing through reconnecting with the land and its nature. Critiques by Aaron DeRosa, Alexandra Ganser, Michelle Satterlee, and Martin Premoli converge on the theme of trauma, each offering unique insights. DeRosa expands on the notion of cultural trauma and its impact on individuals and communities, advocating for adaptive cultural responses to trauma. Ganser explores Tayo's struggle with violence and identity, advocating for inclusive ceremonial practices. English Faculty Books and Book Chapters

This chapter argues that the terms “Latinx” and “latinidad” are messy signifiers that allow us to contend with Latinx’s complicated racial history. While the term Latinx continues to be controversial, and scholars such as Tatiana Flores have examined the case for cancelling latinidad, “Racing Latinidad” points to how latinidad can signify particular political commitments and affinities. Through readings of Manuel Muñoz’s What You See in the Dark (2011) and Dahlma Llanos-Figueroa’s Daughters of the Stone (2009), this chapter illuminates how excavating racial histories outside the logic of the state is a way to summon a politics to imagine a people. …

At first glance it might seem the only thing to say about ‘glove compartment’ is that its original purpose was to hold gloves. And indeed, OED3 presents no discussion on the term, merely setting forth two attestations (1939, 1959). But questions do arise, e.g.,

1) Why was it so important to have gloves in the car?

2) If gloves served the practical purpose of preventing hands from numbing in cold weather, why is the first OED attestation so late?

3) Can any earlier attestations be found?

Starting as a frontier fur trade post in the 1830’s, Fort Laramie, Wyoming Territory, played a prominent role in western expansion. Purchased by the United States government in 1849, the fort’s location near immigrant trails and Native American homelands provided a front row seat to American history. It is estimated that over three hundred thousand people passed the fort during their migration westward. Of the multitude, many were Swiss, including Private Jacob Haudenschild, Sergeant Leodegar Schnyder, Dr. Rudolph B. Hitz and Captain Alfred von Wattenwyl.

This thesis explores my artistic journey of creating work that centers on personal identity and the complexities of history and representation. Through research and creative practice, I have moved away from making art for an external viewer, turning to a deeper internal exploration of my lived experiences.
