Making Video Feedback For The First Time: A Case Study, Dan Martin

This paper examines some of the labor three professors from three different disciplines needed to exert to produce effective VF on student writing for the first time. The research on VF demonstrates that students want more video comments but the labor to learn how to make VF has not been fully identified. I completed a case study with three professors to collect data. I interviewed the professors at the beginning, middle, and end of the study. After transcribing and coding the interviews, I identified where the professors exerted a significant amount of labor to make VF for the first time. …

Current scholarship in writing pedagogy and peer review focuses on how and what to write and say. What is often left unaddressed in these discussions are how we listen and how we teach our students to listen, making listening an often overlooked and understudied piece of the peer review and writing response process. Yet, the quality of the feedback we receive and offer is directly tied to how well we listen to what is said and written. Although writing-across-the-curriculum (WAC) programs have been commonplace since the 1970s, the focus has largely been at the level of assessment and programmatic development and less on the instructors, particularly graduate teaching assistants (TAs) who adopt these practices. In this article, we describe a pilot WAC graduate-level course in writing pedagogy that our institution developed as part of our recent membership in the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL). Conexión Queer: Revista Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Teologías Queer

This article proposes that —in risk contexts marked by institutional violence and religious exclusion— anonymity is not absence but a radical spiritual and political practice. Adopting pseudonyms, masks, or disguises is interpreted as a form of faith in life, pleasure, and community. These strategies subvert binaries between truth and falsehood, authenticity and disguise, proposing a queer ethics of presence. The analysis focuses on pride marches as rites of passage where anonymity is re-signified as collective consecration: the street becomes a temple, the disguise a sacrament, and the mask a spiritual icon.

Through Pentecostal and Holiness missionaries, Madame Guyon’s ideas influenced Christians around the world —including in Latin America— prompting the need for a reevaluation of her works. This article interprets «pure love» in A Short and Easy Method of Prayer and Guyon’s autobiography, drawing on Marcella Althaus Reid’s Indecent Theology and the ecofeminist insights of Ivone Gebara. The goal is to revive the erotic dimension in Guyon’s relationship with God and her «spiritual children,» showing how she teaches the possibility of developing a healing and resilient relationship with the Divine through painful physical and emotional human experiences, in order to find …

This issue of Conexión Queer, titled «Bodies in Transit, Beliefs in Dispute,» offers a reflection grounded in the margins, where spirituality and dissidence intertwine. Through a critical and celebratory lens, it invites us to inhabit the tensions between the divine and the embodied, between faith and desire, dogma and festivity. It recognizes and affirms the transformative power of bodies that resist normativity, question theological certainties, and insist on living queer spiritualities as acts of embodied justice and subversion from the margins.

This article reflects on the historical participation of diverse sex-generic people throughout the history of Christian churches. From biblical times to the present, various forms of leadership have been evident. Despite their active presence, cis-heteropatriarchal leaderships have favored structures of oppression, reproducing dynamics of exclusion. Emerging communities embody a living resistance that calls for democratizing faith and recovering the fundamental values of the Gospel, as well as rethinking modes of inclusion. These new forms of spirituality, often mediated by technologies and virtual spaces, open pathways toward more inclusive, just, and diverse churches.

The evolution of liturgy, preaching, and religious architecture has accompanied the officialization of Christianity, giving rise to complex buildings and artistic expressions, such as basilicas. This process, though historically met with resistance, continues to this day and becomes especially relevant from queer perspectives. The article highlights the importance of the arts — music, theater, dance, poetry, and visual arts — in liturgy and preaching, not merely as embellishment, but as vehicles for opening up new spiritual languages. These queer liturgical practices affirm marginalized LGBTIQ+ identities and heal historical memories, engaging with their realities and struggles.

This article examines how the Radical Reformation movement — although it did not transform gender roles or acknowledge dissident sexualities — left a living theological legacy in inclusive practices and critical theologies that continue to sustain emancipatory struggles today. Through an analysis of the feudal context, peasant revolts, and the tensions between moral control and embodied spirituality, the article explores how gender and sexuality were regulated, repressed, or re-signified. The analysis recovers historical, theological, and mystical elements which —when read through feminist and queer lenses— open new paths for rethinking faith through justice, autonomy, and bodily dignity.

This essay explores the dissonance experienced by a gay man living with hiv/ aids when confronting Christian sacramental theologies—particularly Communion—in a context where ingesting blood and body is symbolically central yet practically discouraged. Drawing on personal experience and ancestral metaphors of mining, the author reimagines Eucharistic traditions (Memorial, Consubstantiation, Transubstantiation) as rich theological «ore» to be mined and refined. Through a queer lens, Communion becomes a resource for rethinking the spiritual, sexual, and political lives of gay men. Rather than repairing doctrine, the piece invites a queer excavation of meaning, seeking what sacred resonance these practices may still hold.

Religious beliefs bear a great significance in many individuals’ lives, as they shape our personal belief systems and affect our relationships with others. Limited research has explored the relationship between religion and intimate partner violence (IPV), an increasingly prevalent issue that persists in our society. The traditional values, such as male gender roles associated with patriarchal societies and traditional religious beliefs, may magnify the prevalence of IPV perpetration. Other variables that may be associated with positive attitudes toward IPV include self-control, alcohol intake, and belief in divine control. Purpose: The majority of college-level musicians exceed the daily recommended noise dose level during instrumental practices and performances, although less than one-third report wearing hearing protection while playing their instruments. Although the hazardous effects of music on the auditory system have been established, even in young adult musicians still early in their musical careers, the effects of music on the vestibular system are still unclear. The purpose of the present study was to examine vestibular/balance differences between young adult musicians and non-musicians to determine the effects of music exposure on the vestibular system.

Ghazālī’S Influence On Mullā Ṣadrā’S View Of Causal Necessity And Freewill, Sayeh Meisami

Muḥammad Ghazālī (d. 1111) influenced some of the key metaphysical teachings of Shia Safavid philosophers, most prominently, Mullā Ṣadrā Shīrāzī (d. ca. 1636). In this paper, I argue that Mullā Ṣadrā reads Ibn Sīnā (d. 1037) through the lens of Muḥammad Ghazālī’s Sufi Ashʿarism to offer a solution to the problem of freewill in the Islamic context. In his adaptation of causal necessity from Ibn Sīnā, Mullā Ṣadrā argues that “necessity” as a concept is co-extensional with “existence” because in reality all that is the case is necessarily so.
