This project seeks to help students apply philosophical questions about the ethics of technology and artificial intelligence to contemporary debates about AI’s impact on society and students’ own lives. It includes a set of in-class active learning exercises and reflection assignments, along with instructions for moderating class discussion of these topics. This is designed to pair with three units in a course on the ethics of technology: privacy, consent, and algorithmic fairness. Each exercise aims to help students connect the philosophical theories studied in class to their own lived experiences with technology.

The funeral industry has become a staple in American death culture over the last century and a half. The professionalization of end-of-life and funeral practices has distanced the average American further from the realities of death, creating a dependent relationship on the funeral home to navigate the complexities of the death process. The experience of grief creates a need for a care that prioritizes the dead and their loved ones. The vision of Virgil Michel was of an integration of the liturgy with life—he considered the liturgy to be the ground for social regeneration. This essay will first explore that idea but, following that, will contextualize the quest for integration within the particular sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist—particularly as it concerns participation in and consciousness of those sacraments. A Sapiential Maxim On Forgiveness In Proverbs 17:9, Mary Jerome Obiorah Ihm

Christian discussion on forgiveness often begins from its theological dimension. This essay argues that an anthropological setting of this inevitable human reality will benefit Christians and non-Christians. We are social beings and we are continually interacting with others in order to sustain our innate social character. Our social circle diminishes if we fail to forgive and avoid our offenders. Proverbs 17:9, which is studied in this paper, persuasively teaches the anthropological reason to forgive others their offences. It is discovered that Christian dialectics on forgiveness is both vertical and horizontal, and the two dimensions are inseparable.

In observing the past several years’ debates regarding reparations under international law, we are reminded of lessons we learned as children in Sunday School. The Jewish and Christian sacred texts address the principle of retributive justice reflected in the Biblical phrase “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.” During the early rabbinic period, the great sages grappled with the import of this rule. Jesus famously rejected the rule in favor of mercy: “turn the other cheek.” The rabbis were not as interested in rejecting this rule in its entirety as ensuring that it yielded justice.

In November 2025, a trial excavation was conducted in advance of the construction project “Ofer Moradot Freud” in Haifa (Permit No. A-10170/2025; map ref. 197775/743020; Fig. 1). The excavation took place on the western slope of Mount Carmel, east of Yod-Alef Ha-Sporta’im Street and north of Naḥal Aḥuzza (Ahuzza River), within the antiquities area Naḥal Aḥuzza [1] (61059/0). This dissertation presents research across three publishable manuscripts that investigate why structural and systemic racism persist among patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) seeking pain management, and how interprofessional collaboration and education can help reduce disparities through shared learning, accountability, and standardized care (Chapters Two through Four). A scoping review identifies current interventions and strategies aimed at sharing the pain experiences and feelings of being unheard by SCD patients (Chapter Two). Findings of the scoping review revealed that although interventions and strategies exist and have been tested, the lack of implementation or buy-in from healthcare professionals has allowed racial discrimination …

Modeling Wild Rice Bed Health: A Dual Metric Approach For Bed Strength And Invasive Impact, Seth Sisneros-Martinez

Wild rice (mannoomin; Zizania palustris) is an aquatic grain that grows in slow-moving rivers and shallow bays throughout northern Minnesota. In Headquarters Bay on Leech Lake, wild rice has served as a cultural staple for Indigenous communities for centuries. However, its population has declined in recent years due to multiple environmental issues. One potential contributor is Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum; EWM), an invasive species that forms dense mats capable of outcompeting native aquatic vegetation, including wild rice. EWM was first recorded on the southern shoreline of Leech Lake in 2005 and has since become widespread. This study …
