The clear answer is that both are important, it’s just that their relative import depends to a large degree on contextual, temporal factors. Visual Studies Programme : Students’ Monographs

《後桃花源記》是一個涉及許多不同層次的交流計劃，當中包括來自韓國釜山和香港錦田的6個藝術單位(5位藝術家和1個藝術組合)、12位來自嶺南大學視覺研究系的學生。他們在2015年2月底前往韓國釜山參觀當地不同的藝術機構、藝術空間和藝術院校，與當中一些藝術家、策劃人和藝術學生對談。在交流過程中，大家都不難發現香港和釜山，這兩個遠離國家首都的沿海城市，所面對因城市發展和重建而產生的問題，均十分相似。在3月份，兩位來自釜山的藝術家:金大洪和金美英也進駐錦田。各藝術家與參與學生一起在錦田進行創作，並於2015年3月21和22日，把作品在地呈現，之後更以文獻方式在C&G藝術單位展示。

‘In Search of the Peachland’ is an art exchange project involving many different layers of idea exchanges amongst different parties: including 6 art units from Kam Tin and Busan (5 artists and 1 artist group), 12 students from the Visual Studies Department of Lingnan University. They went to Busan for a field trip in the end of February, 2015, to visit different art organizations and art students in Busan. During the trip, it was not difficult to find out that both Hong Kong and Busan also encounter similar problems, when undergoing intensive urban development and redevelopment. Last spring, five Bridgewater State University art professors emeritus displayed their artworks on campus, depicting their personal reminiscences of the Art Center, the university’s oldest building. The mixed media exhibition was held in Boyden Hall, the building that housed the art department in a basement location until January 1976, when the department was moved to the Art Center. Participating former faculty members were John Droege, Roger Dunn, Joan Hausrath, Dorothy Pulsifer and Stephen Smalley, long-serving colleagues in the art department.

Research is presented on a Conceptual Model for Cultural Engagement (CMCE) service-learning course for inservice teachers.  The teachers worked with tweens from a non-profit youth organization to showcase their Latino community.  Research data reveals that the course did implement the CMCE, emphasizing asset-based perspectives of the youth and their communities.

Numerous electoral systems have been devised over the years but, in decision-making, many forums still rely on the same procedure that was used in ancient Greece: majority voting. Hence, majority rule. In many plural multi-ethnic and/or multi-religious societies, the effects have often been negative. This article considers voting procedures in three inter-related contexts: decision-making, elections, and governance. With regard to conflicts in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, and Ukraine, it shows, both in decision-making and in elections, how simplistic win-or-lose ballots have exacerbated tensions. And it then suggests a more inclusive polity in which win-win voting systems might help to alleviate …

In Joanna Crow’s cultural exposition of Chile’s largest indigenous population, The Mapuche in Modern Chile: A Cultural History, she makes a concerted effort to highlight the cultural components of the group’s identity and presence both in negotiation with and in resistance to the larger Chilean state throughout history. As a primary target of her research, the post-colonial approach illuminates the agency-driven Mapuche as being continuously reimagined in the nation’s history—not necessarily restructured but more to the point of being reconsidered. The statement was submitted by FOREF (Forum for Religious Freedom Europe) at the 2015 OSCE Human Dimension Implementation meeting held this past September in Warsaw, Poland. The statement calls attention to continuing concerns with the state of religious freedom in Hungary. As readers of OPREE will most likely recall, Hungary's anti-liberal government, led by Viktor Orbán, introduced a law on the "legal status of churches" in 2011 which, among other things, stripped numerous minority religious groups of legal status. This stack incites examination of popular American Culture in relation to perception and nature. The viewer is left to consider the supposed connection between the nightingale and the pop-culture phenomenon of Star Wars. Absurd as this connection may appear, it carries a heavy metaphorical load in regards to superstardom emphasized in American culture. Those associated with the big screen are deemed superhuman by many standards, calling into question ideas of the natural world and that which exists beyond it.
