Daydreamer is a collection of five poems that blend into a colorful collage. “A peaceful ancient town” depicts a typical day in Hoi An while “Summer noon melody,” written in traditional Vietnamese verse form lục bát (six-eight), describes a peaceful Vietnamese countryside village during harvest days. The tone immerses into the darkness of isolation in “Midnight piece” and then becomes calmer, allowing nature to shine in “The squirrel and the pond” which consists of haiku poems about the cycle of seasons and life, a classic theme in Japanese poetry. Filmed at the height of riot grrrl, the documentary Dirty Girls presents a microcosm of the scene at a Santa Monica high school as it follows a group of girls ostracized by the student body due to their opposition to and negation of standard models of early 1990s beauty. This research examines the cruelties of sexual slavery committed by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. Around 150,000 to 200,000 women were taken and used as sex slaves between 1928 and 1945, primarily in Korea and the Philippines. These women have come to be known as "comfort women," a former demeaning term suggesting that these women were comforting Japanese soldiers. However, "comfort women" were not voluntary prostitutes but young women and girls coerced, forced, and deceived into the comfort system. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of Sundanese cultural education strategies implemented at SMA 1 Depok. This research uses a qualitativeapproach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The respondents of the study were students and teachers at SMA1 Depok who were involved in Sundanese cultural education programs. The results showed that the Sundanese cultural education strategy implemented at SMA 1 Depok has succeeded in increasing students' understanding of Sundanese culture. Beginning in the years before the US Civil War, African Americans fled or emigrated from the South to northern and western states and territories. Descendants of these emigrants occasionally had the opportunity to play baseball for predominantly white town teams and minor league clubs prior to 1946 under circumstances documented in states such as Kansas and California. Those same opportunities were virtually nonexistent in states where slavery had been legal at the outset of the Civil War. In addition to Moses Fleetwood Walker, Welday (Weldy) Walker, John “Bud” Fowler, and Grant “Home Run” Johnson, other Black baseball players were members of integrated teams involved in intercity competition in Ohio during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, when racial segregation was widespread. The experiences of four of these players are described. James Chavous was a native of Marysville who pitched for Marysville and several other teams, including the Page Fence Giants. In 1904, an injury to his hand limited his role on the diamond to serving as an umpire, primarily in games between white teams. Edward Webster …

Two essays amend and expand what has been published about two Ohio natives who played baseball in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as the sport became increasingly segregated. The first essay clarifies the early years of Sol White, a Black ballplayer from Bellaire, Ohio, who played on integrated amateur teams in his hometown beginning in 1883, as well as the integrated first nine in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1886–1887 and the segregated Pittsburgh Keystones in 1887–1888.
