Ninety-one-year-old Wilford Woodruff, fourth President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died unexpectedly at 6:40 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 2, 1898, during a visit to San Francisco, California. Woodruff’s well-attended funeral was held six days later, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 1898, at the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sixty-six-year-old George Teasdale, one of the Church’s fourteen Apostles, reported, “Weather sunshine and fair Arose early and . . . went to Woodruff villa and saw the body of our beloved President laying in state. . . . saw the body borne into the …

Plagiarism is the theft of intellectual property. Plagiarism has been a problem in academic settings and appears to be on the increase, now moving into areas including the medical and scientific fields as well as industry, manufacturing, military, and legal briefs. The ethical implications can have serious consequences for organizations, individuals, and society, resulting in harm being done to others in favor of expediency. This article aims at examining names of Chaofain the Rattanakosinperiod by focusing on two aspects; namely 1) linguistic devices adopted in naming, and 2) thoughts, beliefs, and values reflected from the naming practice. The data was mainly collected from the book titled, "Rajsakulwongse" (the Royal Descent) (2011). Itis found that names of Chaofaconsist of two components: name and subname. This can be considered an exclusive attribute of the names of Chaofa. There are four types of linguistic devices mainly adopted in naming practice namely, lexical choice selection,making reference to other elites' names, using rhymes, and using auspicious characters. The study showed the result of Oral Proficiency levels and use of language forms among Japanese-majored Thai students in ChulalongkornUniversity. Oral Proficiency levels followed the guidelines by The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). Ratings in 157 students showed that most of the students were classified as intermediate, and only 40% of the students had adequate language skills appropriate for their post-graduation employment. Analysis of database further revealed that Thai JFL learners tended to use a language form that was different from learners of other native languages and different from JSL learners. This study aims to establish a carrying capacity assessment system for cross-border tourism at Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand and Champasak, Lao PDR. This assessment is one of the key indicators of sustainable tourism development. It is composed of 14 indicators allocated into 3 categories: Physical-environment, Socio-cultural and Economic-Policy. Using Weight Linear Combination, the existing carrying capacity of cross-border tourism was investigated. Results indicated that Ubon Ratchathani and Champasak performed at the same mid-level of the carrying capacity (37.78 and 35.44%, respectively). However, in depth analysis at the district level in Ubon Ratchathani showed that Phibun Mangsahan district had the highest level …

Music is a form of embodied interaction through which people can synchronize their motor, sensory, and emotive systems. Anthropologists and developmental psychologists suggest that elements of music provide the groundwork for verbal interaction and interpersonal relationships (Aiello, 1996; Dissanayake, 2000; Mithen, 2006). When people interact with each other through music, the bases of community are formed. Phenomenological descriptions of individual’s experience of music and the role music plays in interpersonal interaction have been documented. In June 2016, the cosmetic company, ColourPop, released a new line of contour-intended sculpting sticks with insensitive names, such as “Yikes,” “Typo,” and “Dume,” for their three darkest shades. ColourPop’s lack of regard to their African American consumers serves as a reminder that the cosmetic industry often fails to include and fully embrace Black women. It is important to explore the relationship between the cosmetic industry and Black women because reoccurring negative experiences may be indicative of systemic oppression – illustrating that Black women’s personal experiences reach a political sphere.
