This syllabus provides a curriculum for an introduction to research writing. In this course, students develop introductory skills for academic research writing, work on critical thinking and analysis skills, and build an awareness of the rhetorical situation both in texts read in class and in their own writing. This course focuses on the impact that culture has in shaping behavior and life experiences. Preventing Female Inmates’ High Recidivism In One Parole Reentry Program, Erika Galarza
Preventing Female Inmates’ High Recidivism In One Parole Reentry Program, Erika Galarza
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Recidivism among formerly incarcerated women is a challenging issue for one state prison system. Effective and fully enrolled programs to support recently released women are essential to stopping recidivism, as women often face problems such as trauma, abuse, or mental health disorders, all of which may require special care. The purpose of this study was to determine the primary outcomes of the One Parole Reentry Program’s (OPRP) effectiveness in preventing female recidivism at prison facilities and what improvements may enhance future outcomes. The state’s parole program curriculum assessment guidelines and their rehabilitation model were used as the framework to assess …
Joy In Lifelong Learning: An Introduction To Planning For Learning Disabilities In Museum Education, Elaine L. Davis
Joy In Lifelong Learning: An Introduction To Planning For Learning Disabilities In Museum Education, Elaine L. Davis
Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)
For over a century, the role of museums as learning institutions has been considered alongside that of schools. However, special education practices are rarely adapted for museum education, requiring educators in museum contexts to undertake extra work to accommodate those with learning disabilities. This thesis used Qualitative Comparative Analysis and Textual Analysis to review pedagogical white papers and academic research on museum programs aimed at neurodivergent audiences. The findings were used to create a professional development guide for museum educators at a range of different types of museums.
The Design Of Time: Envisioning The Future Through Science Fiction Production Design In The Alien Franchise, Josephine Spanier, Charles Howard
The Design Of Time: Envisioning The Future Through Science Fiction Production Design In The Alien Franchise, Josephine Spanier, Charles Howard
Honors Thesis
In filmmaking, the production designer works closely with the director and cinematographer to ensure cohesion and uniqueness in the film’s visual design. This collaboration often provides the designer with a strong degree of influence on the film’s final look, thus shaping the thematic and visual impact of a film on the audience. In highly stylized and fantastical genres, such as science fiction, production design plays an especially important role in creating worlds that may be entirely different from the one we currently live in, while still reflecting the real-world context in which the film was made. This phenomena can particularly …

I Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In: The Negative Effects And Shortcomings Of United Nations Peacekeeping Efforts, Andrea G. Heredia-Ortiz
Honors Program Theses and Research Projects
The purpose of this paper is to look at peacekeeping operations done by the United Nations. In specific the efforts in Haiti, the former Yugoslavia, and Israel. In each of these operations the United Nations created more instability or left the country in the same or worse state than it was when it came in. In the case of Haiti there was sexual exploitation of the citizens and the cholera outbreak of 2010. In Israel, the peace operation has been ongoing since 1947, conflict in the Middle East does not seem to be coming at an end anytime soon. Additionally, …
