Martin Luther And Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus (“Outside Of The Church There Is No Salvation”): Did Luther Really Abandon Cyprian?, Darius Jankiewicz
Journal of the Adventist Theological Society
"... careful study of the Luther’s writings reveals that, while he repudiated many Catholic ways of understanding and conducting church, and while he attempted to harmonize ecclesiastical structures and sacramental theology with the foundational principles of Protestantism, he was essentially unable to break away from medieval modes of thinking. Notwithstanding his rejection of the Catholic emphasis on the visible church, he struggled to free himself from reliance on institutional structures for salvation. Ultimately, Luther affirmed the necessity of the visible church for salvation. In His wisdom, Luther believed, God had decreed the church to be the means of grace, without …

The data were collected from the original version of "Water Margin" and analyzed withConceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT),as put forward by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson (1980). The "GREAT CHAIN OF BEING" system of George Lakoff and Mark Turner (1989) and cognitive metaphorical model of "HUMAN …

The Semantics Of The Preposition Khɔ̌Ɔŋ In Thai(ความหมายของคำว่า ของ ในฐานะคำบุพบทในภาษาไทย), Sorn Abngern, Kingkarn Thepkanjana
Journal of Letters
It is known among Thai language users that the preposition khɔ̌ɔŋin Thai is used to express possessive relations between two entities. The concept that readily comes to mind when the language users think about "possession" is ownership. However, there are other types of relations subsumed under linguistic possession expressed by the preposition khɔ̌ɔŋ. The purpose of thispaper is, therefore, to identify the possible semantic relations between possessed nouns and possessor noun phrases in nominal constructions with the preposition khɔ̌ɔŋin Thai. The 2,700data were collected from the Thai National Corpus. It was found that the semantic relations expressed by the possessive …

/plàaw/is a familiar negative form when it is part of question particles like /rɨ̌plàaw/and /châj rɨ̌plàaw/. Thai native speakers can also use /plàaw/at the beginning of a sentence or use it solely in response to conversationsnaturally and may not even notice its syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic properties. This paper aims to study the three stated properties ofthe negative form, /plàaw/, in the second or responding turn in conversations. However, /plàaw/, which is part of question particles; /plàaw/, which is part of fixed expressions such as/rɨ̌kɔ̂plàaw/; and /plàaw/, which means 'empty or nothing else but itself',such as /klɔ̀ŋ plàaw/and /khâaw plàaw/, …

Ignorance Is Bliss: The Impacts Of International Travel And Education On Political Beliefs, Kyle Decker
Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
This ISP examines the link between international travel and selected political beliefs. While the literature on the political effects of international travel are almost non-existent, many works exist that link increased education to higher political skepticism. In this study, we test the theory that international travel can be interpreted as education, and thus can have the same effect of engendering political skepticism.
This theory is tested using a survey which was distributed at various locations in Amman, Jordan. The survey first asked about the respondent’s basic demographical information, education level and international travel history. The political questions focused on two …

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The topic of this study is to research and discuss the potential of worship renewal through blended worship in small churches. Renewal to inspirational worship is a powerful demand from all churches. This researcher proves whether the researcher’s experience can be applied to the worship renewal of other small churches in the same way. For this purpose, this study first provides a Biblical discussion about the concept of praise, the significance and potential capability of praise in worship, and prepare a theoretical basis by reviewing related books and preceding research materials. This study aims to provide a direction and an alternative for the church to recover its mission and approach to the world by studying the ministry associated with non-profit organizations. Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe
IN THIS ISSUE
Most of the ordinary issues of OPREE contain articles dealing with diverse subject matters. This issue is different; it is special because it is devoted to the jubilee fiftieth anniversary of the declaration of autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church. The initiative for it came from one of our advisory editors, Prof. Ruzhica Cacanoska, from Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia, a country both ancient and new.
The proclamation of autocephaly, i.e., a totally self-governing Orthodox church on July 17, 1967, has not only been rejected by the Serbian Orthodox Church within which the Orthodox …

Monastic Traditions And Practices In Macedonia And Their Implications In Modern Times, Maja Angelovska-Panova
Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe
The purpose of this paper is to present several fundamental aspects in the reconstruction of the issue related to the monasticism in Macedonia. In that sense, taken into consideration is the historical and spiritual continuity of the monasticism beginning from the ninth century to modern times, as well as the monastic practices established in the existing typicons, and the implications of the revival of the modern monasticism in Macedonia in the 1990s.
Research at digressive methodological level points to the fact that in monasticism, the same traditional Christian values are cherished as they have been cherished in the previous period. …

Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe
This is a brief narration of the creation of St. Clement's Ohrid Archbishopric-Patriarchate as the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric from ancient times to recent times. The author first returns to the founding of the first three Macedonian and, generally, European Christian churches in Philippi, Thessalonica, and Berea by the Apostle Paul and his associates around the middle of the first century, AD. Then, he proceeds to the creation of the autocephalous Archbishopric Justiniana Prima (534-545) by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I in Skopje or in its surroundings. The work of the Holy Apostle Paul and Emperor Justinian I was continued …

Relationship Between Using Korean Folktales In Foreign Language Class And Learners' Reading Comprehension And Cultural Understanding, Eunsun You
Theses and Dissertations
Language is a reflection of society, so knowing about a language also means knowing about a culture. Therefore, many types of literature have been used as a language education tool representing culture. This thesis proposed folktales as an effective material of not only introducing culture but also learning language. Since folktales are old stories that have passed from generation to generation for a long time, values and morals of a culture are naturally presented in the context of the stories. Furthermore, folktales could enhance students' reading comprehension because the story lines, phrases, and words in a story are used repeatedly. …
