This study explores five core healing design factors in the spatial environment of elderly rehabilitation clinics and ranks their importance through expert interviews and surveys of senior users. With common issues such as limited space and constrained budgets in local clinics, the goal is to offer a practical reference for resource allocation during spatial optimization. Results indicate that lighting comfort ranks highest, followed by air quality, color and materials, with natural elements and sound/music being relatively secondary. This study presents Three Locks, an immersive narrative system that integrates Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR) to investigate multi-perspective storytelling within nonlinear interactive environments. Players manipulate miniature figurines representing gold prospectors with distinct motivations. The MR stage facilitates structural guidance and expectation-building through physical interaction, whilethe VR stage delivers emotionally immersive, first-person narrative fragments. This study explored how design students employ meta cognition to regulate emotions during collaborative design and examined the influence of different teamwork styles. Nine graduate students participated in a ten-week project developing an educational board game, with data collected through design journals and analysed using content analysis. The results showed: (1) clear goals and effective regulatory strategies enhanced perceived control and fostered positive emotions, whereas task ambiguity often triggered anxiety; (2) teamwork styles shaped emotional trajectories: additive teams achieved stability through intensive interaction, conjunctive teams showed individualized regulation due to limited support, and disjunctive teams reflected the leader’s emotional strain …

This study aims to reduce the burden of administrative procedures related to death and inheritance by focusing on entry items in ending notes and identifying related challenges in terms of understanding and information sharing. Thirty-four ending notes were analyzed, and their entry items were organized into 25 categories. Using Hayashi’s Quantification Theory Type III and cluster analysis, the notes were classified into three groups to clarify their characteristics. Prolonged static postures during dental procedures, such as implant surgeries, often lead to significant physical fatigue, especially in the lumbar region of dental professionals. To address this issue, a dental operating stool (OS) with an adjustable seat tilt was developed and evaluated. This study aimed to identify the optimal seat tilt angle to reduce physical strain and improve work efficiency. Experiments were conducted at four seat tilt angles: 0°, 3°, 5°, and 7°. Metabolic syndrome (MetS) refers to the co-occurrence of health conditions that increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. Evaluating The Role Of Narrative Perspective In Chatbot-Supported Academic Procrastination Reduction, Pei-Jung Cheng

This study examined how different narrative perspectives in chatbot dialogues shape users’ identity perceptions and willingness to continue interaction. 86 participants interacted with a LINE BOT framed in first-, second-, or third-person voice during an 8-day academic task. Findings showed that the 1st- person perspective fostered more personalized identity projections—such as mentor, peer, or self— and encouraged longer engagement duration. The 3rd-person perspective, while emotionally distant, yielded the highest willingness to continue use, suggesting broader acceptability. This study aims to address common issues of low motivation and poor outcomes among design students in theoretical courses by introducing the "Process-Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning Model" (POGIL) into a human factors design course for instructional innovation. It evaluates changes in students' learning engagement through questionnaires and focus group interviews. The participants were 44 design students at a university of technology, and the course lasted nine weeks. Amid the widely misunderstood textile waste crisis, this study explores how to raise awareness through accessible, play-based learning. During iterative workshops guided by the Stanford Design Thinking framework, participants designed educational board games, such as Aftermath, that positioned players as everyday stakeholders navigating real-world sustainability challenges. As the games evolved, so did their participants – shifting from passive learners to active co-creators in cycles of play, learning, empowerment. This study centers on micro-scale renovations at three historically significant Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) stations—Hsinchu, Chiayi, and Tainan. Employing a practice-based research framework and service design methodologies, the study addresses challenges in public transport spaces, including disorganized wayfinding and fragmented user experiences. Through on-site observation, journey mapping, modular prototyping, and institutional collaboration, a reversible, modular, and low-interference design strategy is proposed, implemented at key interaction points such as ticket counters, entrances, and food retail areas. As micro plastics gradually infiltrate the physiological structures and sensory characteristics of edible plants, this study combines empirical research and speculative design to construct an illustrated guide of edible flora in the “New Plastic Age”, which we herein conceptualize as the Neo-Plasticene. Through AI-assisted narrative and visual generation, the guide simulates potential morphological and sensory mutations in plants subjected to pollution stress—articulating intermediary species positioned between nature and artificiality, defined by their latent transformation and persistent edibility. We proposed the design of a 4D digital viewing system for archiving the embodied creation process of Ikebana. Using twenty-two synchronized fixed cameras and a grasses type eye tracker, our system captures full-body motion, the evolving flower arrangements, and gaze behavior. Camera poses are estimated with COLMAP, and each video frame is independently reconstructed using 3D Gaussian Splatting, resulting in a space-time sequence that can be interactively viewed from arbitrary angles. This frame-wise reconstruction strategy lowers computational load and avoids temporal drift, enabling long-duration recordings on moderate hardware while maintaining spatial coherence. Focusing on the T22 Revitalizing Local Industry via Design Program in Yingge, this study explores how design, as a strategic tool, can engage with traditional ceramic industry clusters and address industrial decline and gaps in local governance. Through a practice-based and participatory design approach, the project developed rebranding, knowledge building, spatial transformation, cross-sector collaboration, and platform creation. The recent surge of generative AI has accelerated arguments on whether it can facilitate and hamper creative thought processes. In this work, we explore a framework for human–AI co-creativity within a closed academic community. We designed a multi-session interdisciplinary workshop in which university researchers created a custom GPT-based conversational assistant collaboratively and had guided interactions with the assistant. Generative AI (GenAI) is reshaping design education, leading to the emergence of new university policies and evolving student practices. This study offers a comparative review of 17 institutional policies and 38 empirical studies on design students’ engagement with GenAI. Using inductive analysis, we developed a synthesized set of themes that capture both regulatory guidance and practical usage. Our findings indicate that while institutional policies emphasize responsible use, general-purpose recommendations, and abstract competency aims, student practices are characterized by situated judgment, iterative workflows, and profession-oriented skill development. Advancements in affective computing highlight the growing potential of virtual reality (VR)–based conversational agents to provide emotional support during distressing experiences. This pilot study employed a convergent mixed-methods design to examine how a VR-based empathetic agent influences users’ emotional states, perceived empathy, and trust after recalling negative personal memories. Five participants completed an emotion-induction task followed by a 15-minute supportive dialogue with an AI agent in an immersive VR environment. Quantitative measures indicated general mood improvement with a slight rise in tension, likely reflecting residual arousal rather than discomfort with the agent. In this work, we reflect on our experiences as design researchers working in Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) to offer practical tactics for overcoming these constraints. This study aims to explore how emerging smart technologies such as IoT, autonomous devices and mobility systems can be integrated into house plants to facilitate positive emotions as an affective product. Through semi-structured interviews with fifteen young adults (aged 20–30) in South Korea, we collected their positive and negative experiences of plant care. We investigated two pseudo-haptic feedback techniques for virtual reality (VR) strength training aimed at modulating perceived weight and cognitive fatigue. Both methods visually amplified the motion of a real dumbbell relative to users’ physical movement: a nonlinear transformation that preserved spatial alignment at the start and end of each motion, and a constant gain that uniformly scaled displacement without endpoint consistency. Experimental results showed that the constant gain approach led to greater reductions in perceived weight compared to the nonlinear method, particularly during the early stages of training, while the nonlinear method had only marginal effects. A sensory room is a space where people with symptoms of sensory hypersensitivity can temporarily rest and escape from stimuli such as sound and light. This study aims to increase the relaxation effect in sensory rooms by developing an interactive device that operates in synchronization with the user's breathing. A non-contact breath estimation using an RGB-Depth camera sensor, the system transforms physical structures in accordance with the user's breath. Understanding operator practices in high-tech environments is critical, not only for improving product and workflow, but also as a design challenge. While these environments collect wealth of data, it is insufficient to understand the practice of operators. This poster introduces Attuned Design Practice (ADP), a concept that examines how design practice can be used to interpret and articulate alternative understandings of studying human-computer relationships, by prior it ising ‘embodied knowing’ as an alternative design vocabulary. We shortly introduce the current state of scientific research in general, explain the notion of ‘attunement’, and show an existing framework that has inspired us to start an eighteen-months field study of body-based inquiry in the domains of Design, Art and Technology.
