Introduction
The Black population in the US is heterogeneous but is often treated as monolithic in research, with skin pigmentation being the primary indicator of racial classification. Objective: This paper examines the differences among Blacks by comparing genetic ancestry, skin color and social attainment of 259 residents across four US cities—Norman, Oklahoma; Cincinnati, Ohio; Harlem, New York; and Washington, District of Columbia.

Methods
Participants were recruited between 2004 and 2006 at community-based forums. Cross-sectional data were analyzed using chi-square tests, correlation analyses and logistic regression.

Results
There were variations in ancestry, melanin index and social attainment across some cities. Overall, …

Hansu Siirala is a Finnish-Canadian craftsperson currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Twelve years ago at the age of fifty-five, she suffered two strokes, which paralyzed her left side and required her relocation to a long-term residential care facility. Via writings to her family, Hansu shares hilarious, bitingly sharp observations about life in the assisted care facility in Vancouver. 本研究主要探討中國貨幣化在宋元明時期在台州地方上的發展的進程性問題，意圖針對宋明貨幣化發展「斷裂」，在「唐宋變革」和「明清資本主義萌芽」的悖論中搭建起更為貫通的解釋框架。從宋明發展的長時段的角度覲察，則11世紀到16世紀這600年間宋代台州貨幣經濟從擴張到收縮、到再擴張之問的轉換十分明顯，台州貨幣化發展的過程，一言以蔽之，可以概括為貨幣化-去貨幣化-貨幣化的週期性變動。由於很難對貨幣化進程有一個準確的衡量，在考察一地的貨幣化進程時，關鍵之處在於，衡量通過貨幣進行的經濟活動的比例增加，以及對貨幣的需求增加，對於中國古代社會的台州地區來講，貨幣化進程取決於兩個因素，即：經濟發展程度和經濟體制或結構的變化。這兩個因素是本文方法上考察台州貨幣化發展的依據。本研究通過比較宋代台州擴張性貨幣政策驅動的案例和明代台州收縮性貨幣政策驅動的案例發現，財政結構在宋元明時期台州貨幣化發展過程中起了關鍵的作用，即賦役體系和鹽業專賣制度的變遷影響了台州宋明不同時期「貨幣化」到「去貨幣化」週期的轉變。

Late-Night Political Comedy's Impact On Audience Political Attentiveness, Public Opinion, And Civic Engagement, Molly J. Olmstead

University Honors Theses

This thesis examines the relationship between late-night comedy news shows and their audiences, in terms of how they impact public opinion, political attentiveness and civic engagement. It looks at how the genre of late night political comedy is not a monolith, and neither is its audiences, and addresses the different ways these two interact with one another. Through an in-depth literature review, this thesis finds that late night political comedy has the most impact on politically inattentive audiences who end up learning about politics inadvertently, and that the jokes featured on these shows actively primes these viewers to hold certain …

Prosthetic pedagogy, as developed by Charles Garoian, provides a framework for using artificial-real worlds created by the arts to influence and impact teaching practice. The prosthetic space is artificial, separate, from the artist and audience, yet it is felt authentically, as if it were part of their being. Garoian explored prosthetic pedagogy through visual arts and museum experiences. This research further examines prosthetic pedagogy by applying it the Theatre. Abstract: This article explores the use of art to trigger memory as an effective educational tool for discussion. The author is a regular guest speaker at an affluent retirement community. The attendees are highly educated and accomplished professionals with expansive and worldly lived experiences. Formally facilitating lifelong learning, however, is a special vocation and requires a secular shared praxis and other andragogical strategies. The reflections and questions discussed in the paper emerged from a teaching artist experience in community-art that led to the examination of the contrasting values between the disciplinary paradigms of social practices, community-based and participatory arts and that of the contemporary artworld aesthetics. As goals of art for social justice often contradict the perception of artistic merit based on aesthetic quality, working at the intersection of artistic creation and community development demands a shift in perspectives. Building upon the tradition of the New Political Theology and Iiberation, decolonial, and feminist theology, this article explores the consequences of a decolonial epistemology of theology for ethical theory. It introduces a critical political ethics that concurs with critical, post-structural, and decolonial theory that knowledge and ethics is necessarily situated while standing firm in their ethical orientation towards liberation from injustice. Under the Skin is an animation depicting the struggles of Laila, a fictional ten-year-old Salvadoran girl child who risks her life crossing the desert to realize her dream of finding a better life in America.

Through Laila's experiences inside the American Immigration system, Under the Skin focuses on the vicissitudes and emotions that unaccompanied migrant children (UMC) arriving in the US across the US-Mexico border encounter.
