Collab-Hub: A System For Creating Telematic Musical Performance Environments For Max And Web-Based Instruments, Nick Hwang, Anthony T. Marasco, Eric Sheffield

Collab-Hub is a networking tool for sharing data across the internet for multimedia collaboration. Utilizing the Max graphical coding environment and its integrated Node.js functionality, Collab-Hub allows for multiple users to send data easily and remotely so they can collaborate with that data in real-time.

In this talk, we discuss the design of the Collab-Hub framework and provide examples of using it to create scalable and reconfigurable interaction layouts between Max patches and web-based instruments/interfaces. An analysis of pertinent historical precedents highlights the advantages Collab-Hub provides to artists who have little to no web development experience or to those who …

This thesis explores modernism's temporality and location through the examination of Arabic modernism's occurrence. In this thesis, I question whether the authenticity of modernism derives from its temporality period or its literary content while concurrently investigating several poems by Lebanese authors Kahlil Gibran and Nadia Tuéni and Syrian poet Adonis. Additionally, I trace Arabic modernism's influence to the early 1900s-1910s to the conception of the Mahjar movement and the Pen League, an Arabic literary society consisting of Arabic immigrant writers. Despite some ongoing debates over the positive or negative impact of digital games, educational games are powerful tools to increase engagement and improve learning outcomes. Scientific concepts about the weather are complicated for younger learners and deep learning often requires long-term cultivation. This thesis presents a novel interactive educational simulation called the Science of Meteorology with Interactive Learning Experience (SMILE). In it, students interact with a touchscreen monitor to change weather conditions and learn about clouds and weather science. The basic purpose of this paper was to assess the visitor’s willingness to pay (WTP) and also explore the factors which play an important role for visit urban tourism (UT). The Lahore is the multicultural city of Pakistan which has many beneficial activities for entrepreneurs as well as for the tourists. Data of 250 tourists were collected through well pre paired questionnaire and this data were used in the final analysis. This study investigated satisfaction with public housing amongst women in Ibadan Municipality, Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey of residents in two selected housing estates owned by the Oyo State was conducted using structured questionnaire as data collection instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential. It was observed that most women living in public housing sampled in the study area were low and middle income earners and not satisfied with their present housing conditions. The management aspects of the housing schemes, size and security of the dwelling units were the main factors that determined respondents’ satisfaction with their housing environment. …

On March 25, 1837, a recent medical school graduate boarded a ship which, unbeknownst to him, would carry him into his future career. The ship was the Virginian, a sailing-vessel, traveling across the Atlantic Ocean from New Yark to Liverpool.1 The graduate was Pliny Earle, a twenty-seven year old Quaker from rural Massachusetts, who would become one of the most well-known and well-respected psychiatrists of the nineteenth century, as well as a prolific writer on the subject.

Christians in the Southeast Asian country of Burma, also known as Myanmar, make up approximately five percent of the national population. The Christian community of Burma includes both Catholics and Protestants, and the Protestants are divided into many denominations. Baptist Christians are predominant among this group, and they provided most of the ethnographic information upon which this article is based. In the article I argue that twenty-first century Baptists in Burma fulfill both aspects of a “twofold legacy” bequeathed to them by Adoniram Judson, the first Baptist missionary to Burma, and that their fulfillment of this legacy is manifest in …

Biblical scholars have increasingly realized that textual representations of rituals do not have the same function or meaning as the ritual performances that they describe. A survey of this theoretical distinction in biblical scholarship over the last 25 years shows the impact of this realization, and also several points of resistance. The significance of the distinction between ritual text and ritual performance can be illustrated clearly in Leviticus 12, which describes the rituals required of new mothers after giving birth.
