Based on the rapid developments in economy and society in past decades, China has already become one of the largest countries in scientific research and technology development. However, China is still far from being a leading country in science and technology. Can philosophy help to promote China's scientific innovations? It is argued in this paper that philosophy, in its proper role, can help by facilitating the growth of philosopher-scientists in China, who may play key roles in some original innovations that are in need in China.

The study proposes that in this context, we should attach great importance to the connection between science and philosophy, as well as the alliance of scientists and philosophers. It also discusses the positive effects of philosophy on science from the origin of science, development momentum, and the shaping of scientists' creative thinking. The main thrust of this study is to assess how the systematic biases found in mass media journalism affect the writing of history textbooks. There has been little attention paid to how the dissemination of select news information regarding the recent past, particularly from the 1990s through the War on Terror, influences the ways in which US history is taught in schools. This study employs a critical-historical lens with a media ecology framework to compare Project Censored’s annual list of censored and under-reported stories to the leading and most adopted high school and college US history textbooks. Secrecy as the intentional or unintentional concealment of information is the subject of investigation within the humanities, social sciences, journalism, law and legal studies. However, the subject it is not widely taught as a distinct social problem within higher education. In this article, I report personal experience with developing and teaching a graduate level course on a particular type of secrecy, government secrecy, at the School of Information, San Jose State University. Traces of the ancient Egyptian language can still be observed in modern Egyptian colloquial Arabic, which is the form of Arabic adopted by Egyptians as their native spoken language. This thesis aims to better understand the ancient Egyptian language through the analysis of its lexical survivals. It presents a new methodological approach to utilize ancient Egyptian lexical survivals as a source to study the ancient Egyptian language. A selected set of fifty-five ancient Egyptian lexical survivals was computed by matching ancient Egyptian and documented Egyptian colloquial Arabic words having the same semantic fields.
