Du Chaos À La Création : Une Expérience De Pédagogie Énactive Pour Expérimenter Le Processus Créatif En Performance, Ivan Magrin-Chagnolleau
Presidential Fellows Articles and Research
‘The 39 Steps’ Of Stage Management: An Analysis Of The Evolution Of Professional Stage Managment Practices And Their Application At Otterbein University's Department Of Theatre 2011-Present, 2015 Otterbein University
‘The 39 Steps’ Of Stage Management: An Analysis Of The Evolution Of Professional Stage Managment Practices And Their Application At Otterbein University's Department Of Theatre 2011-Present, Grace K. Murrin
Undergraduate Honors Thesis Projects
One of the most vital roles in the theatrical world is that of the stage manager. The stage manager’s job is to manage everything that happens on the stage. They create schedules, manage actors, keep track of props, set pieces, and costumes, record blocking, and call the show. The stage manager is the glue that holds the production together. They act as a facilitator, conductor, advisor, and leader. For my honors thesis project, I have explored stage management methods as they have developed and changed over time. I have applied four new-to-Otterbein methods of stage management through my stage management …

"Trigger" For Change: Theatre As A Tool For Social Dialogue, 2015 University of Montana - Missoula
"Trigger" For Change: Theatre As A Tool For Social Dialogue, Sydoney B. Blackmore
Undergraduate Theses, Professional Papers, and Capstone Artifacts
Trigger for Change: Theatre as a Tool for Social Dialogue was a project consisting of three main parts oriented toward promoting dialogue on the University of Montana campus about sexual assault. The first part was a company-constructed multimedia presentation that quickly introduced the audience to facts, figures, and perspectives regarding sexual assault. The second was a performance of Carmen Aguirre's The Trigger, a stage play about the playwright’s experience before, during, and after her rape, with other characters’ perspectives interjected throughout. The purpose of this performance was to provide an experience for the audience that promoted empathy and critical …

Lost In Austen: An Immersive Approach To Pride & Prejudice, Erica Hughes
Theses and Dissertations
This paper is an account of the Theatre VCU mainstage production of Pride & Prejudice, in which I played the roles of Mrs. Bennet and of the vocal coach. In order to address the various skill levels of the cast, I planned to coach the production in a manner inspired by immersion language learning programs, with the cast speaking in dialect throughout the rehearsal process so as to learn the necessary vocal skills and to grow together as a theatrical ensemble. When the director of Pride & Prejudice was not receptive to this plan, I had to compromise and adapt …
The Orphanage Of Things: A Narrative Of Abandonment, 2015 Virginia Commonwealth University
The Orphanage Of Things: A Narrative Of Abandonment, Malaz Elgemiabby
Theses and Dissertations
In Sudan, 110 babies are abandoned in the streets of Khartoum every month. The majority of abandoned children are born out of wedlock. Young women with illegitimate pregnancies are often ostracized by their families and society, and the lack of emotional, financial and legal support has led many to take desperate measures, including the abandonment of their children. Relinquishing mothers exist like ghosts in Sudanese society. The only evidence of the mother’s experience is her anonymous, abandoned child. In order to understand and examine this phenomenon, I used ethnographic performance art informed by design research practice (Performative Research Design). I …
Queer Provisionality: Mapping The Generative Failures Of The Transborder Immigrant Tool, 2015 Old Dominion University
Queer Provisionality: Mapping The Generative Failures Of The Transborder Immigrant Tool, Alison R. Reed
English Faculty Publications
Alison Reed investigates the border- and boundary-crossing performance of Electronic Disturbance Theater 2.0’sTransBorder Immigrant Tool (TBT), an incomplete cell phone program that offers GPS, guidance, and poetry to those attempting to cross into the United States across the Mexico/US border. Reed suggests a provocation-based performance of “queer provisionality,” revealing the aesthetics of oppressive power structures by juxtaposing them to social utopias. Interrogating the national neoliberal project of both US liberalism and US conservatism, Reed’s essay is also a transcription of the performances launched around TBT, the social and political machinery set into motion by Electronic Disturbance Theater’s failed utopian project.
