การถ่ายทอดเพลงสระหม่าใหญ่ของครูปี๊บ คงลายทอง (ศิลปินแห่งชาติ), ยศพล คมขำ

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องการถ่ายทอดเพลงสระหม่าใหญ่ของครูปี๊บ คงลายทอง (ศิลปินแห่งชาติ) มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาอัตลักษณ์โครงสร้างทำนองปี่ชวา หน้าทับสระหม่าใหญ่ และวิธีการถ่ายทอด ผลการศึกษาพบว่าเพลงสระหม่าใหญ่มีโครงสร้าง 3 ทำนองได้แก่ ทำนองสระหม่า ทำนองโยน ทำนองแปลง ทำนองสระหม่ากับทำนองโยนมีลักษณะพิเศษคือไม่มีจังหวะตายตัว สามารถยืดหรือขยายทำนองได้อิสระภายใต้โครงสร้างทำนองเพลง ทำนองแปลงมีลักษณะประโยคเพลงปกติแต่สามารถขยายหรือลดทอนทำนองในบางส่วนลงได้ หน้าทับเพลงสระหม่าใหญ่ประกอบด้วยหน้าทับ 3 ไม้หลัก ได้แก่ ไม้ต้น ไม้โปรย ไม้แดก ในแต่ละไม้จะมีทำนองโยนมาคั่นและจะมีหน้าทับย่อยลงไป มีลักษณะโครงสร้างเหมือนกับเพลงเชิดคือเป็นการเปลี่ยนหัวไม้และซ้ำท้าย เมื่อบรรเลงครบทุกไม้กลองแล้วจะเข้าสู่หน้าทับแปลงโดยกลองแขกตัวผู้จะตีเรียกทำนองตัวเมียก่อนออกแปลง หลังจบแปลงจะจบด้วยทำนองที่เรียกว่า หยดน้ำ สำหรับการถ่ายทอดเพลงสระหม่าใหญ่ของครูปี๊บ คงลายทองปรากฏ 2 แบบ แบบแรกต้องทำพิธีการคำนับครู แบบที่สองเป็นการนำดอกไม้ธูปเทียนมาบูชาครู การถ่ายทอดเริ่มที่เพลงสระหม่า โยน แปลง จนกระทั่งจบกระบวนเพลงสระหม่าใหญ่ หลังจากนั้นเป็นการอธิบายข้อปฏิบัติและการนำเพลงไปใช้ซึ่งพบว่ากฎที่เคร่งครัดของเพลงสระหม่าใหญ่ก็คือห้ามนำไปใช้งานอวมงคลเด็ดขาด และหลังจากการบรรเลงเสร็จเรียบร้อยทุกครั้ง นักดนตรีต้องทำบุญอุทิศบุญกุศลให้แก่ครูดนตรีไทย ซึ่งสิ่งนี้เป็นประเพณีที่ปฏิบัติสืบต่อมาจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องหลักและวิธีการบรรเลงเดี่ยวซอสามสายของครูศิริพันธุ์ ปาลกะวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษามูลบท หลักการ และวิธีการบรรเลงเดี่ยวซอสามสายของครูศิริพันธุ์ ปาลกะวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา มีขอบเขตการศึกษาโดยเลือกศึกษาจากเพลงเดี่ยวซอสามสายขั้นสูงที่ครูศิรพันธุ์ ปาลกะวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา ได้รับการถ่ายทอดโดยตรงจากพระยาภูมีเสวิน (จิตร จิตตเสวี) จำนวน 2 บทเพลง ได้แก่ เพลงพญาโศก สามชั้น และเพลงเชิดนอก ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ครูศิริพันธุ์ ปาลกะวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา เป็นหลานตาของพระยาภูมีเสวิน (จิตร จิตตเสวี) ผู้เชี่ยวชาญการบรรเลงซอสามสายที่มีชื่อเสียง เริ่มเรียนซอสามสายเมื่ออายุได้ 9 ปี กระทั่งอายุ 10 ปี ได้ฉายแววความสามารถในการเดี่ยวเพลงพญาโศก สามชั้น ครูศิริพันธุ์เป็นที่รู้จักและมีชื่อเสียงมากจากการทำหน้าที่เป็นศิลปินเดี่ยวซอสามสายทางสถานีโทรทัศน์ไทยทีวีช่องสี่ บางขุนพรหม ครูศิริพันธุ์ได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศจากการส่งเทปวิดีโอการบรรเลงเดี่ยวซอสามสายเพลงพญาโศก เข้าร่วมประกวดในเทศกาลโทรทัศน์นานาชาติ ณ เมืองบัฟฟาโล รัฐนิวยอร์ก ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา สร้างชื่อเสียงให้กับประเทศไทย ครูศิริพันธุ์มีหลักการสำคัญคือ การตีความและการสำแดงอารมณ์ ถ่ายทอดลงในท่วงทำนองเพลง มีกลวิธีในการบรรเลงที่เป็นวิธีการสำคัญเฉพาะคือ การเดินนิ้ว รูดสาย ที่ได้สร้างลีลาท่าทาง เป็นอัตลักษณ์ของครูศิริพันธุ์ ปาลกะวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา ในการบรรเลงเดี่ยวซอสามสาย

การแสดงเดี่ยวทรัมเป็ตในครั้งนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อค้นคว้าหาข้อมูลที่มาของบทประพันธ์เพลง ศึกษาวิเคราะห์บทประพันธ์ รวมถึงการศึกษาประวัติผู้ประพันธ์และรูปแบบการบรรเลงที่ถูกต้องตามยุคสมัยของบทเพลงเพื่อพัฒนาทักษะและคุณภาพในการบรรเลงทรัมเป็ต ในการแสดงในครั้งนี้ ผู้แสดงได้คัดเลือกบทประพันธ์ที่มีความน่าสนใจตั้งแต่ยุคบาโรคจนถึงยุคปัจจุบันทั้งสิ้น 6 บทเพลง ได้แก่ (1) Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major ประพันธ์โดย Joseph Haydn (2) Eternal Source of Light Divine ประพันธ์โดย George Frideric Handel (3) Let the Bright Seraphim from Samson ประพันธ์โดย George Frideric Handel (4) Centennial Horizon ประพันธ์โดย Kevin McKee (5) Eastwind ประพันธ์โดย Jean-Francois Michel และ (6) Ode for Trumpet ประพันธ์โดย Alfred Reed การแสดงในครั้งนี้จัดขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 30 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2565 เวลา 16.00 น. ณ หอแสดงดนตรี สำนักบริหารศิลปวัฒนธรรม จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย การแสดงแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ช่วง ใช้เวลาในการแสดงทั้งสิ้นประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมง 15 นาที

บทประพันธ์เพลงระดับมหาบัณฑิต : “จักรราศี”, นิศานาท นีระ

บทประพันธ์เพลงนิพนธ์ “จักรราศี” เป็นบทประพันธ์เพลงลักษณะพิเศษ (Character piece) ซึ่งประกอบด้วยหลายกระบวนเพลงที่บรรเลงติดต่อกันไป มีใจความเป็นเอกภาพ เนื้อหาเป็นการเล่าเรื่องหรือการบรรยายความรู้สึก บรรเลงในรูปแบบวงดุริยางค์เครื่องลม บทประพันธ์เพลงนี้มีความยาวประมาณ 17 นาที บทประพันธ์เพลงนี้ประพันธ์ขึ้นเพื่อบรรยายถึงลักษณะนิสัยของบุคคลแต่ละราศี ตามหลักโหราศาสตร์ไทย แบ่งออกเป็น 12 กระบวน ได้แก่ ราศีมังกร ราศีกุมภ์ ราศีมีน ราศีเมษ ราศีพฤษภ ราศีเมถุน ราศีกรกฎ ราศีสิงห์ ราศีกันย์ ราศีตุลย์ ราศีพิจิก และราศีธนู นอกจากนี้ยังได้เลือกใช้เทคนิคประพันธ์ดนตรีร่วมสมัยเข้ามาร่วมในการประพันธ์ เช่น การผสมผสานของโมด (Mode) การปรับทำนองหลัก (Thematic transformation) การแปรทำนอง (Variations) และเทคนิคอื่น ๆ เข้ามาเพิ่มสีสันให้กับบทประพันธ์เพลง

การแสดงเดี่ยวเครื่องกระทบสากลครั้งนี้ มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อให้ผู้ฟังสามารถเข้าใจถึงบทบาทที่สำคัญของเครื่องกระทบที่มีต่อวงการดนตรีในปัจจุบัน ความน่าสนใจของเครื่องกระทบทั้งแบบที่มีระดับเสียงและไม่มีระดับเสียง มุมมองที่หลากหลายจากผู้ประพันธ์เพลงที่มาจากต่างเชื้อชาติกัน และความสำคัญของเทคนิคการบรรเลงซึ่งจะส่งผลต่อการตีความบทเพลง เพื่อสามารถถ่ายทอดบทเพลงจากผู้ประพันธ์เพลงได้อย่างลึกซึ้ง โดยอาศัยการค้นคว้าข้อมูลทั้งทางด้านทฤษฎี ประวัติศาสตร์ และลีลาการบรรเลงบทเพลง รวมถึงคิดค้นแบบฝึกหัดสำหรับพัฒนาศักยภาพการบรรเลงเครื่องกระทบสากล เพื่อให้ผู้สนใจสามารถนำไปใช้เพิ่มพูนเทคนิคการบรรเลง อันจะช่วยส่งเสริมให้เกิดแรงบันดาลใจในการบรรเลงและสื่อสารสิ่งที่ผู้ประพันธ์เพลงต้องการได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ การแสดงครั้งนี้ ผู้แสดงได้คัดเลือกบทประพันธ์เพลงทั้งหมด 6 บทเพลง ที่มีความแตกต่างกันทั้งในเรื่องเครื่องดนตรีและสำเนียงภาษาของผู้ประพันธ์เพลงที่หลากหลาย ได้แก่ 1) A Cricket Sang and Set the Sun ผลงานการประพันธ์ของ Blake Tyson 2) Metamorphosis of Snare Drum ผลงานการประพันธ์ของผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์พนัส ต้องการพาณิช 3) Two Mexican Dances for Marimba ผลงานการประพันธ์ของ Gordon Stout 4) Episodes No.1-3 for Timpani ผลงานการประพันธ์ของผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์เผ่าพันธ์ อำนาจธรรม 5) Bushido: The Way of the Warrior ผลงานการประพันธ์ของ John Willmarth เเละ 6) La Llorona ผลงานการประพันธ์ของ Brian Johnson จะเห็นได้ว่าผู้ประพันธ์เพลงแต่ละคนล้วนมีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะในการประพันธ์ อย่างไรก็ดี นักดนตรีแต่ละคนต้องตีความจากความเข้าใจ แล้วนำเสนอแนวคิดผ่านเทคนิคของตนเองอย่างเต็มที่

“ไตร” คอนแชร์โตสำหรับเครื่องกระทบสามคน คือบทประพันธ์เพลงขนาดใหญ่ที่มีลักษณะของดนตรีบริสุทธิ์ เป็นการประชันระหว่างกลุ่มผู้บรรเลงเดี่ยวและออร์เคสตรา องค์ประกอบทั้งหมดที่เกิดขึ้นถูกถ่ายทอดด้วยกลยุทธ์ทางความคิดสร้างสรรค์ อารมณ์ความรู้สึกและรากเหง้าความเป็นนักเล่นเครื่องกระทบของผู้ประพันธ์ มีจุดประสงค์หลักเพื่อต้องการนำเสนอทั้งสีสันของเสียง มิติจากเครื่องกระทบและการวาดลวดลายความสามารถของนักเล่นเครื่องกระทบ โดยผู้ประพันธ์จะรวบรวมกลยุทธ์ต่าง ๆ ในการรังสรรค์เพื่อดึงศักยภาพของกลุ่มเครื่องกระทบให้มีความโดดเด่นมากยิ่งขึ้น รวมไปถึงการปรับบทบาทให้มีความสมดุลกันระหว่างกลุ่มผู้บรรเลงเดี่ยวและออร์เคสตรา ทั้งนี้ผู้ประพันธ์ต้องการเปิดโลกทัศน์ให้กับผู้ฟังถึงมุมมองต่อกลุ่มเครื่องกระทบในออร์เคสตรา ที่เดิมทีอาจมีบทบาทเพียงช่วยสนับสนุนออร์เคสตราเท่านั้น รวมทั้งบทประพันธ์เพลงยังสามารถสร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้กับนักเล่นเครื่องกระทบทั้งในระดับเริ่มต้นจนถึงมืออาชีพ หรือผู้ที่กำลังจะเข้ามาเป็นนักเล่นเครื่องกระทบในภายภาคหน้าและยังสามารถเสริมสร้างทักษะในการฝึกร่วมเล่นกับผู้อื่นได้ดีอีกด้วย

This action research aimed to examine the factors contributing to student retention in a middle school band program through the self-reported perspectives of students. With a critical inquiry framework, it was anticipated that the results would inform potential action by the researcher aimed at increasing student access to music programs. Through an empirical descriptive design using survey technique, the study population included band students at the school where the researcher was teaching at the time of the study. A number of scholars have sought to identify the compositional elements that comprise late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century British piano music. Despite this interest, there has been little research into the conventions of performance with which this repertoire is inextricably associated. Moreover, scant attention has been given to the notions of taste that are so often encountered in contemporaneous music treatises and philosophical writings. This project explores the compositional and improvisational techniques idiosyncratic to David Ades, specifically within his last two recordings as leader: A Glorious Uncertainty and A Life in a Day. Interviews were conducted with collaborators and those musically associated with Ades to provide a deep understanding of the philosophical values governing his musical approach. In association with this, selected recordings from the aforementioned albums were transcribed for analysis. Areas of analytical focus were arrangement, form and structure, pitch arrangement, rhythmic devices, articulation, effects, dynamics, and interaction. This chapter argues for the full, respectful curricular inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music in order to promote a more balanced and equitable social and cultural vision of the nation-state in Australian schools. It challenges views that claim Indigenous cultures have been irretrievably lost or are doomed to extinction, as well as the fixation on musical authenticity. We propose that the gradual broadening of Indigenous musical expressions over time and the musical renaissance of the new millennium have created an unprecedented opportunity for current music educators to experience the educative power of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music. …

As the most recent brass instrument to be added to the standard orchestra, the tuba’s solo repertoire is relatively new compared to other orchestral instruments. Ralph Vaughan Williams composed the first major concerto for tuba in 1954, over 100 years after the tuba’s creation in 1835 by Wilhelm Friedrich Wieprecht and Johann Gottfried Moritz. Though many composers — including Bruce Broughton, Eric Ewazen, Paul Hindemith, Gunther Schuller, and John Williams — have written solos for the tuba since Vaughan Williams, performers rely on arrangements and transcriptions of existing works to fill gaps in the repertoire. This research paper provides an analysis of Variations on Balkan Themes, Op. 60, one of Amy Beach’s most significant solo piano works. Variations on Balkan Themes exists in four different versions: the 1906 original solo piano version, a 1936 revised solo piano version, a 1942 two-piano version and fragments of an orchestral version. This paper is focused on Beach’s 1906 original solo piano work. This thesis discusses at length the experiences of four interviewees, selected for being both musicians as well as transgender people. From the author’s shared perspective as a trans woman, this work addresses the issues and boons of being trans musicians. It reflects their experiences, both positive and negative, as well as provides conjectural analyses of the respondents’ shared stories. It identifies common themes, issues regularly experienced by trans people, and offers arguments on why ending this hate is so vitally essential.

This research aimed to develop a method of jazz composition that utilises data-based restrictions to facilitate the composition process. An analysis rating tool (ART) was developed based on methodologies created by Aaron Stroessner and Jan LaRue to extract elements of melody, harmony, rhythm and form from compositions on Seamus Blake’s album Bellwether and Will Vinson’s album Stockholm Syndrome. The ART then facilitated a practice-led composition process in which the data from the analysis were used as the primary source of creativity to generate and record a set of 10 compositions.
