Allegory, Symbolism, And Metaphor In Le Roman De Fauvel, Maria Coulter, Jake Loitz, Cait Duffy

2021 Festschrift: The Interpolated Roman de Fauvel in Context

Roman de Fauvel is a 14th century work composed of poetry, story, an overarching narrative, and music to accompany the literature. In this study, our research is dedicated towards finding and analyzing the many instances of allegory and symbolism in the highly philosophical, satirical, and critical work. Using French 13th and 14th century historical context, we determine the origins of the subject matter of these allegories. Concerts and Event Programs 2021-2022

Experience a festive garland of heartwarming carols such as Cameron Roses’ Infant Holy and selections from John Rutter’s Gloria, Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols. The centerpiece of the Christmas concert includes Z. Randall Stroope’s Magnificat, Shawn Kirchner’s setting of Brightest and Best, Paul Stookey’s Christmas Dinner arranged by Stephen Zork, and the reverent symphonic setting of See Amid the Winter’s Snow by Dan Forrest. The concert, presented in a collaborative purpose by instrumentalists and vocalists from the Department of Music, is designed to inspire you to serve those that Jesus Christ came to save.
