Interactive Feedback Systems In Pre-Vocational Training For Individuals With Intellectual Disabilities: A Pilot Study On Lower Limb Motor Function, Yi Mo Lin, Poh Thong Tan, Yang-Cheng Lin

The research investigated the feasibility and effectiveness of an interactive feedback system integrating wearable sensors and real-time visual feedback for pre-vocational lower limb motor function in individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID). Using a single-group pre- and post-test design, 12 participants completed five training sessions focusing on knee extension, plantarflexion, and do rsi flex ion. Outcomes were evaluated through gait stability metrics (total deviation, walking time, and steps) and surface electro myo graphy (sEMG) signals. Significant improvements were observed in walking time (reduced from 14.4 to 10.2 seconds, p=.008) and step count (from 25.3 to 18.6 steps, p=.008), reflecting enhanced gait …

As bamboo gains recognition for its ecological and material versatility, through participation in bamboo weaving, the researcher discovers large volume of waste generated during material preparation. This study investigates the material and experiential potential of bamboo craft waste through a practice-led research approach. By combining sodium alginate (SA), the researcher experimented with diverse material compositions and forming methods, including sheet casting, pattern generation and 3D shaping. These processes reveal how material behaviours such as fluidity and shrinkage become central to design negotiation, prompting the maker to oscillate between control and responsiveness. This study explores how cultural metaphors move participatory futures beyond abstraction, proposing the Resonance Framework to ground community-based policy design in Bandung’s community. By integrating metaphors of tradition, everyday ness, and urban ecology, the framework empowers grassroots communities and academic stakeholders to translate intangible futures into concrete, culturally resonant policies. This study explored the role of participatory design in empowering peri-urban communities through sustainable agricultural practices. Focusing on Kampung Bukatanah, West Bandung Regency, the participatory design workshop engaged diverse actors, including community members, youth organizations, and students, to address agricultural waste challenges using Solution Mapping Tools, such as cards, canvases, and guides. Gamification and interactive technology have shown promise in enhancing upper-limb stroke rehabilitation by improving patient engagement and motor recovery. However, how to design for patients’ motivation in game-based rehabilitation remains underexplored. This study conducts a scoping review of the game-based rehabilitation literature (2010–2025), with a focus on gamified goal setting, to understand how rehabilitation goals are integrated into game mechanics. Drawing on Yu-kai Chou’s Octalysis Framework, we analyze and discuss how goals can be designed in game-based rehabilitation to influence patient motivation and adherence. This research presents an intelligent approach to designing an inclusive social assistance systemy. The study employs a combination of literature analysis, in-depth interviews, and quantitative surveys to explore user needs. First, the KANO model was used to identify three attributes—essential, expected, and delightful—which are mapped onto five dimensions of social support: contextual and subjective, emotional and cultural, tools, information, and evaluation support. This study explores the integration of visual principles into traditional Taiwanese woodcarving pedagogy through Shih Zhen-Yang’s “Six Foundational Woodcarving Drills for Beginners.” Drawing from two instructional programs, the research employs participatory observation and semi-structured interviews to compare learning outcomes before and after the introduction of visual principles. were introduced. Findings indicate that incorporating visual guidance improved learners’ spatial perception, execution accuracy, and overall fluency in carving. This study explores how personality traits of AI chatbots affect designers’ emotional experience, empathy, and the quality of outcomes during the empathy phase of the design thinking process. A between-subjects experimental design was conducted with 60 design students assigned to interact with chatbots exhibiting positive, neutral, or negative personality traits. Participants collaborated with the chatbot to complete an empathy mapping task, and their emotional and empathic states were measured before and after the interaction. Arranging furniture in a new empty room is a common creative decision-making activity that requires creative thinking and is characterised by a “trial and error” process. This paper reports results from two studies designed to explore consumers’ creativity in a desktop web-based virtual environment through a domain-specific task. Focusing on a five-day workshop conducted between a Japanese material innovation company and an Indian design school, the study explores how participants engaged in collaborative storytelling and prototyping to reinterpret eri silk—a sustainable and ethically produced silk fiber. This paper investigates how interaction modalities, specifically text-based versus speech-based interfaces, influence the experience and outcomes of academic co-writing with generative AI (GenAI). Drawing on distributed and situated cognition and human-AI creativity studies, I argue that modality is a structuring force in how ideas emerge, evolve, and stabilize in academic writing. Text-based interaction supports branching exploration, comparative revision, and temporal layering, enabling asynchronous control and persistent visual memory. In contrast, speech-based interaction facilitates associative thinking and spontaneous ideation, offering immediacy and flow. This paper introduces a design framework—Action, Reflection, and Transformation (ART)—that supports embodied ideation and articulates somatic knowledge in interaction design. Building on prior work in embodied interaction and soma design, the framework provides a structured yet flexible means for designers to engage in a first-person bodily experience, co-create through reflective practice, and translate movement-based insight into expressive form.
