Rationale and processes for reporting near misses and evidence-based tools were collected by a literature search, seminal works by Sidney Dekker and James Reason, and websites for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Tools, information, and strategies found in this research were evaluated for implementation in Maine nursing homes. Background: The availability of healthcare services is limited in Paraiso, Dominican Republic with the nearest full-service hospital located 34.1 km away. A local, underutilized clinic was unaware of the needs of this disadvantaged community.

Method: Researchers adapted a World Health Organization assessment survey with the goals of determining residents’ priority needs and an appraisal of the current clinic capabilities and gaps in services in order to provide the community with relevant healthcare. 106 families were randomly selected in seven separate geographic areas of Paraiso to participate in the self-report assessment. Background. Multiple health disparities are associated with the Marshallese population in Northwest Arkansas. Childhood obesity, linked to a decrease in exclusive breastfeeding, is one of the predominant issues. Since their migration to the United States, exclusive breastfeeding rates of Marshallese mothers have steadily declined throughout the years. Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a chronic disease that impairs the quality of life (QoL) of patients and is associated with both high hospital readmission rates and healthcare resource utilization such as emergency services. This study proposed use a student led transitional care program in providing home care to NYHA functional class II and III CHF patients. Over 5 million Americans have been diagnosed with heart failure, and that number is growing. This disease is burdensome to the patient as it lessens their quality of life and to the healthcare system due to costliness and frequent readmissions. This study aims to evaluate if a student nurse led transitional care program can increase patient self-care confidence, in turn reducing 30 day hospital readmission rates. Background: Although tuberculosis (TB) morbidity and mortality have decreased in recent decades, challenges exist regarding disproportionate distributions of TB among specific populations and geographic areas. Inconsistent local health department (LHD) funding for TB programs poses difficulties for LHDs to sustain resources and personnel that predisposes communities to risks of future outbreaks of TB and drug-resistant TB diseases.

Substance abuse can affect anyone. The consequences are significant and may lead to death. Substance abuse also puts a great financial burden on the healthcare system. The purpose of this review of literature was to investigate the effect of faith-based therapy compared to secular therapy on substance abuse treatment. The data sources used were: PsychINFO, CINAHL, and OneSearch. Results showed multiple factors of faith-based therapy such as: cultural pressure, fear of judgment, and social support may correlate with recovery. This qualitative study explored the perceptions that affect medication adherence among hypertensive Nigerian immigrants in Sacramento, California. The research questions focused on factors that influenced the adherence to hypertension medication; specifically, how the sample population explained the cause of hypertension and whether culture and religion impacted the cause and management of hypertension. A phenomenological approach was used to understand perceptions about medication adherence. A predefined group of 9 acted as a purposive sample and was given semi-structured individual interviews.
