This article describes the collaborative process involved in selecting the streaming service Kanopy as a learning resource for in-person and distance instruction in a university setting. The process of implementing the service, as well as the service’s special features that aided in that process are outlined. This article discusses how Kanopy has been used for marketing library resources and outreach to our academic community. Moving forward, strategies will be employed to transition our patronage’s sentiment of Kanopy from a resource for entertainment, to a research tool as well.

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are materials such as books, articles, videos of lectures, and other resources provided to students free of charge. The increase in textbook costs has caused students to depend upon OERs. OERs are excellent teaching resources for students and instructors because they are free or low-cost and easy to adapt to instructor curricula. Furthermore, they can help students from low-income families save money. This paper will discuss the importance, challenges, and benefits of open educational resources in higher education institutions.

Since 2021, the American Library Association has reported a marked increase in the number of book challenges in the United States. Public and school libraries, where most of these attempts at censorship occur, frequently celebrate Banned Books Week each fall, to raise awareness about the ongoing threat to intellectual freedom. College and university libraries face fewer book challenges and might not celebrate Banned Books Week; however, given the rise in number and visibility of conversations surrounding book banning, hosting events on the week’s theme offers academic libraries a way to engage their students thoughtfully in civic conversations. This study investigated demographic characteristics as determinants of awareness level of e-resources among postgraduate students in public universities in Nigeria. The descriptive survey research method was used for the study. The population of this study comprised 23,070 postgraduate students enrolled in six public universities in southwest Nigeria. A convenience sampling technique was used to select 2,310 postgraduate students in the six public universities. A structured questionnaire was adapted for the study. Graduate Students' E-Book Awareness And Usage At A Public Research University In The U.S.A., Denise Brush, Daniel G. Kipnis

Purpose

This study aims to understand the level of graduate students’ awareness and usage of e-books purchased by the authors’ university library since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors created a Qualtrics survey with 13 questions that was sent to the university’s graduate student email list. The survey was sent in the fall of 2023 and was open for one month. The list had 3,318 subscribers; 113 complete responses were received, for a response rate of 3.4%.

Findings

The results found that doctoral students (80%) are more aware than master’s students (64%) of e-book availability through the library, and usage …

The current research paper explains how familiar and frequently students at College in Assam used electronic library resources. A descriptive survey method gathered information from 150 students via a questionnaire. Findings indicated a significant lack of awareness among students regarding electronic resources, with 61% of respondents expressing unawareness due to a lack of prior knowledge. Consequently, many students continued relying on traditional library systems for their research needs. Furthermore, only a small fraction (16%) of students knew about the existence of electronic library resources but rarely utilized them for academic purposes.
