Esta tesis doctoral se centra en los orígenes sociales de dos enfermedades de origen cultural en la comunidad indígena ngawbere, que ha experimentado y sigue experimentando marginalización en comparación con otros habitantes de Panamá. Los ngawbere consideran que son una sociedad separada dentro del Estado-nación de Panamá, y como principal población indígena que sobrevivió a la pacificación española en la época colonial, todavía residen en sus tierras ancestrales en el oeste del país.

This paper examined emerging trends and challenges of metadata in 21st century Nigerian academic libraries. It gave the historical development of metadata and types of library metadata. The functions of metadata in academic libraries were accentuated. Bibliographic Framework (BibFrame) 2.0, Resource Description and Access, Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) and Functional Requirement for Authority Data (FRAD) were identified as emerging trends of metadata in Nigerian academic libraries. Preprint articles are available on servers, such as arXiv and ChemRxiv, at no-cost to benefit the movement toward open access of research. However, the use of preprint research articles as a reference source in academia is not heavily documented. To examine if researchers are utilizing preprint articles, this paper examines citation trends in the dissertations of chemistry and physics PhD candidates who studied at four University Centers in the State University Of New York system (SUNY).
