Academic Librarians With Disabilities: A Literature Review, Bridgette L. Whitt
The Southeastern Librarian
Libraries' discussion of disabilities is normally focused on the patrons who are served and not the em-ployees who work within the walls of the institution. The population of adults with disabilities in the United States is growing, and the current research results show that the number of librarians who iden-tify as having disabilities is not close to equally representing the population in the profession. This paper reviews the literature written about academic librarians with disabilities and investigates the issues that are being faced by those librarians with disabilities and the hindrances that are keeping that representa-tion level reduced in the …

A Study Of The Collection Development And Usage Of Vinyl Albums At Huntingdon College From 1970 To The Present, Daniel N. Dubei
The Southeastern Librarian
The author reviews the history of collection development of the vinyl collection at Huntingdon College. With interviews from current and former faculty and staff, the author shows how donations of vinyl al-bums helped propel the extensive quantity of albums. The author discusses how the collection circulated throughout the 1970s to the 1990s, when CDs arrived on the scene. The quick transition to digital streaming along with short staffing has caused these vinyl albums to sit, neglected in a classroom, un-used for decades. The vinyl collection also does not have enough cataloging data for easy discoverability and circulation. The author collaborated …

Digitization Of Photo Archives As An Effort To Preserve Information At The Library And Archives Service Of Bantul, Yogyakarta - Indonesia, Yeni Rahmawati, Dwi Ridho Aulianto
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Photo archives are valuable sources of information with historical and cultural significance and, therefore, need to be preserved. However, the fragile and vulnerable physical condition of photo archives and the limited adequate storage facilities pose particular challenges for regional archival institutions like the Library and Archives Service of Bantul Regency (DISPUSIP Bantul). To address this issue, DISPUSIP Bantul has undertaken efforts to digitize photo archives to preserve the information they contain. This research aims to understand the process of digitizing photo archives undertaken by DISPUSIP Bantul.
