Most school libraries organize fiction books alphabetically by an author’s last name. In order for a student to find and compare potential fiction reading material, the traditional school library model would have the student either search the library system for the topic and then go from stack to stack looking for books about the topic from any number of locations or seek advice from school library staff who would direct the student to potential titles as part of a reader’s advisory. Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion Analysis Tools For Timely Audits: Two Case Studies Of Carlsbad Libraries, Sarah Wilson

When libraries explore how their youth collections can be more diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI), it is beneficial to first identify where representation gaps exist amongst their holdings. Digital DEI audit tools can quickly target areas for improvement. The following studies use digital instruments to analyze the DEI representation in two youth library collections in Carlsbad, California. The fiction picture book collections were probed at both a Carlsbad elementary school in Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) and the Georgina Cole public library (Cole). This paper lays out the conceptual groundwork for a long-term project examining ethical issues raised when addressing the value of knowledge to a knowledge economy. The project includes a series of papers on specific topics that interrelate to the subjects of knowledge, ethics and organizations. While some of the planned articles for the project will have a practical focus, others, such as this one, will be conceptual in nature. The following outlines selected key concepts for an ethics of knowledge and their relationship with cognate areas of inquiry and practice.

In early 2021, the Schusterman Library at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa satellite campus took a new step towards building a culture of interest by creating the Graphic Scholarship Collection. This new endeavor is a curated collection of graphic novels, primarily non-fiction, aligned with the academic programs on campus, as well as promoting University initiatives in diversity, equity, and inclusion. A new organizational structure for the collection materials and their circulation metrics will be examined in detail. This study explored the multifaceted dynamics affecting the academic performance of high-achieving elementary students on end-of-year reading exams. It examines the influences of gender, age, genre preferences, the frequency of book borrowing, and language modality of instruction, all within the context of the elementary school library. Methodologically, the study employs a quantitative correlational approach. The data source comprises students' demographics, class assignments, end-of-year reading scores, and library patron records. Through the lens of Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, this research aimed to enrich our understanding of various interconnected systems in students’ environments, such as family, school, and community, with each level …

Material challenges in public libraries are at an all time high while also possessing a huge political and emotional weight. As such, library workers are defending against book banning in larger numbers, and their very work is coming into public scrutiny and questioning. In such stressful times, the potential for trauma from the library workplace is higher and more charged. This paper lays the groundwork for how trauma and materials challenges have the potential to interact in the library workplace, especially for those from marginalized communities. Museum biological collections store species data that can be utilized in research on biodiversity, environmental change, invasive species, public health, and disease. The University of Arkansas Arthropod Museum, which began in 1905, houses over 750,000 specimens and has not yet been digitized. Making data publicly accessible via the internet makes the data available to the entire scientific community. The goal of this project was to create a digital resource to allow greater access to the University of Arkansas Arthropod Museum holdings. Background: In the United States (U.S.), falls are the leading cause of injury among adults 65 and over, resulting in 36 million falls yearly (Moreland et al., 2020). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2023), one in four older adults experiences a fall each year. Falls are the world's second most prominent cause of accidental deaths (World Health Organization [WHO], 2021). Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and non-fatal injuries among older adults (Moreland et al., 2020).

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเกณฑ์การคัดเลือกสาหรับคลังเก็บเว็บถาวรที่มีเนื้อหาด้านความหลากหลายทางเพศในหอสมุดแห่งชาติต่างประเทศ และเพื่อพัฒนาเกณฑ์การคัดเลือกสาหรับคลังเก็บเว็บถาวรที่มีเนื้อหาด้านความหลากหลายทางเพศสาหรับหอสมุดแห่งชาติไทย ในด้านหัวข้อเนื้อหา (Topics) และประเภทเนื้อหาเว็บ (Web content) การดาเนินงานแบ่งเป็นสองระยะ ได้แก่ (1) การวิเคราะห์นโยบายการพัฒนาทรัพยากรคลังเก็บเว็บถาวรของประเทศสมาชิกภาคีการสงวนรักษาอินเทอร์เน็ตสากล จานวน 7 แห่ง และ (2) การสัมภาษณ์กึ่งมีโครงสร้างกับผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านความหลากหลายทางเพศในประเทศไทย จานวน 5 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า หอสมุดแห่งชาติต่างประเทศมีนโยบายจัดเก็บเว็บถาวรอย่างเป็นระบบ โดยครอบคลุมประเด็นสาคัญ เช่น ความถี่ในการจัดเก็บ เกณฑ์การคัดเลือก กลุ่มเป้าหมาย วิธีการเก็บเกี่ยวเว็บ ภาษา และซอฟต์แวร์ที่ใช้ อย่างไรก็ตาม ส่วนใหญ่ยังไม่มีนโยบายเฉพาะสาหรับเว็บที่มีเนื้อหาด้านความหลากหลายทางเพศ ยกเว้นหอสมุดรัฐสภาอเมริกันที่มีคอลเลกชัน LGBTQIA+ Studies มีนโยบายการพัฒนาทรัพยากรโดยเฉพาะสาหรับคอลเลกชันด้านนี้ สาหรับประเทศไทย ซึ่งมีการเคลื่อนไหวด้านความหลากหลายทางเพศอย่างชัดเจนผ่านสื่อออนไลน์ ข้อมูลเหล่านี้มีคุณค่าทางสังคมและประวัติศาสตร์ หากไม่ถูกจัดเก็บอาจสูญหาย ผลการวิจัยนี้ยังเสนอเกณฑ์การคัดเลือกเว็บที่มีเนื้อหาด้านความหลากหลายทางเพศสาหรับคลังเก็บเว็บถาวรหอสมุดแห่งชาติ จานวน 7 ข้อ ได้แก่ ความเกี่ยวข้องกับประเด็นความหลากหลายทางเพศ ประเภทเนื้อหาเว็บ (Web content) คุณค่าของเนื้อหา ความน่าเชื่อถือของแหล่งข้อมูล ความเสี่ยงต่อการสูญหาย ภาษาและความเป็นไทยของเนื้อหา และรูปแบบเนื้อหา (Content format) ขอบเขตเนื้อหาครอบคลุม 39 หัวข้อ
