The Crusading Days Of Jackie Stewart: Evaluating The Development Of Safety In Motor Racing During The 1960s., Alex Twitchen
Journal of Motorsport Culture & History
This article critically evaluates the contribution of Jackie Stewart in making motor racing a safer sport for competitors. It challenges the validity of the popular assumption that Jackie Stewart by himself developed a ‘culture of safety’ that transformed the sport. Instead, the role of other individuals are identified alongside the importance of three social processes. These processes are identified as the changing balance of power between different masculine identities, the development of commercial sponsorship and a growth in the coverage of the sport on television.
The development of motor racing from the 1960s onwards as a safer sport in which …

Online News Portrayal During The Covid-19 Health Crisis And Journalism's Role In Misinformation In The U.S., Michou Ducilon
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a wealth of new information regarding the virus's origin and treatment. Regrettably, the vast amount of online information has resulted in the proliferation of misinformation, as the World Health Organization reported. To investigate whether journalists may have contributed to this problem, a qualitative analysis was conducted on 15 news articles from top-tier media outlets. Using NVivo software, the articles were analyzed to identify linguistic words and visuals that fell into coding categories based on Behrendt's (2008) contextual analysis for evaluating text. Each article was then coded again to identify common themes. During this process, new …

Border Of Dreams: A Textura Documentary, Scott Winter
Wednesday, February 25, 2026
The Problem: Textura magazines are expensive and consumers are moving to video. In light of those problems, how can Textura fulfill its dreams of connecting cultures and disciplines through social justice storytelling in a viable way that reaches a large audience? The Solution: An Edgren Scholars grant and NYCAMS grant to retell our best Textura Guatemala 2022 story as a social justice documentary called Border of Dreams. The process: By hiring a Guatemalan director and editor from former partnerships, the student-professor collaboration of Junior Soraya Keiser and Professor Scott Winter travelled through the summer of 2022 and spent a year building …
