A class of distribution-free tests for the homogeneity of location parameters is proposed and compared with different competitors in terms of Pitman asymptotic relative efficiency. A numerical example is provided and a simulation study is made to check the performance of the tests.

The National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) oversees the process of medical school graduates being matched to a residency program. The NRMP determines both the hospital and residency program for medical students. Prior to matching, both hospital programs and students rank each other. The NRMP uses these lists to determine the matches. Four distinct models using data from hospitals and applicants were used to determine what characteristics lead to a chance of being matched. Among statistical intervals, confidence intervals and prediction intervals are well-known and commonly used. In many applications, the problem becomes finding an interval that covers at least a certain proportion $P$ of the population for a characteristic of interest with a specified confidence level $(1-\alpha)$. And such interval is named a $P$-content, $(1-\alpha)$-confidence Tolerance Interval (TI). The topic of the dissertation is the utility of tolerance intervals for various regression models. The exponentially-modified Gaussian (EMG) distribution is well-suited for analyzing data with positive skewness due to its characteristic positive skew from the exponential component. Despite its popularity in various fields, the EMG distribution has only been analyzed for univariate data without any regression settings. To address this limitation, we developed a generalized EMG regression model with covariates by assigning parametric functional forms to some or all of the parameters in the EMG distribution that vary with values of the covariates. This study examines the link between market risk and equity return in Nigeria between 1980 to 2019. It employs the vector error correction model (VECM) to determine the short run dynamics and long run effect of market risk factors on stock return. The findings revealed that a dynamic relationship exists between market risk factors and stock returns in Nigeria. Also, exchange rate risk and oil price risks have significant influence on stock return, while inflation and interest rate risk, and political instability risks have a non-significant impact on stock return. In this research, the performance of two popular estimators, Maximum Likelihood Estimator(MLE) and Bayesian Expected a Posteriori (EAP) is studied and compared in estimating the latent ability score in an Item Response Theory (IRT) model. The 2-Parameter Logistic (2PL) IRT model which is characterized by difficulty and discrimination item parameters is used to estimate the latent ability scores. Several datasets are generated for variety of sample size and item length values. The Monte-Carlo simulation is used to analyze the performance of the estimators. This study characterizes the nature of fiscal-monetary interaction in Nigeria and gauges its macroeconomic effects by estimating a New Keynesian Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (NK DSGE) model. Two policy simulations were also conducted. The first experiment considers the desirable active-passive policy mix while the second experiment ranks alternative monetary policy rules among the differing objectives of price, output and exchange rate stabilization. The study finds that fiscal and monetary policies interact as complements in an active monetary and passive fiscal policy mix over the sample period. Graphical models determine associations between variables through the notion of conditional independence. Gaussian graphical models are a widely used class of such models, where the relationships are formalized by non-null entries of the precision matrix. However, in high-dimensional cases, covariance estimates are typically unstable. Moreover, it is natural to expect only a few significant associations to be present in many realistic applications. This necessitates the injection of sparsity techniques into the estimation method. Classical frequentist methods, like GLASSO, use penalization techniques for this purpose. In this paper we explore Bayesian inference and its application to the problem of estimating the intensity function of a non-homogeneous Poisson process. These processes model the behavior of phenomena in which one or more events, known as arrivals, occur independently of one another over a certain period of time. We are concerned with the number of events occurring during particular time intervals across several realizations of the process. We show that given sufficient data, we are able to construct a piecewise-constant function which accurately estimates the mean rates on particular intervals. This study examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sectoral stock prices in Nigeria stock market using daily data covering from February 28, 2020 to June 26, 2020. Applying the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds test, the study finds that COVID-19 pandemic had adverse impact on the stock market indices in the short run. Furthermore, the study documents negative response of sectoral stock prices to the pandemic while the stock prices of the banking sub-sector are the worst hit. This study examines the effect of monetary policy rate (MPR) on market interest rates in Nigeria. For parsimony, we develop two indexes called the short-term interest rate (SINT) and Lending interest rate (LINT) to represent deposit and lending rates respectively. The nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) and threshold regression models are adopted. The study uses monthly data from 2002:M1 to 2019:M12. This study investigates the implication of the social dimension of inclusive growth on poverty reduction in Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) countries. It specifically examines how social indices of inclusive growth comprising of income inequality, education, and health outcomes affect poverty reduction. The study uses a panel dataset of the six (6) lower-middle income countries in ECOWAS which was analysed via panel Difference Generalised Method of Moment (D-GMM). The aim of this study is to examine the effect of FDI on employment in ECOWAS sub region between 1990 and 2019. The study utilizes a panel autoregressive distributed lag model to analyse the short run and long run relationship between FDI and employment across ECOWAS sub region. In the short run, the impact of FDI on employment is negative and statistically not significant. Meanwhile, in the long run FDI has a positive and statistically significant impact on employment rate. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov (KS) test is one of the most popular goodness-of-fit tests for comparing a sample with a hypothesized parametric distribution. Nevertheless, it has often been misused. The standard one-sample KS test applies to independent, continuous data with a hypothesized distribution that is completely specified. It is not uncommon, however, to see in the literature that it was applied to dependent, discrete, or rounded data, with hypothesized distributions containing estimated parameters.
