Metadata remediation of digital collections is inevitable. At some point, each repository faces the need to clean-up digital collections legacy metadata so that it conforms to new standards. Typically, this need emerges either as a response to an updated metadata application profile, or as preparation for migration to a new digital asset management system (DAMS). Introduction The main theme of the study is to investigate the usage of social media among the student of Department of Library and Information Science.

Objectives To examines the most useable social media applications, purpose of their use and impacts of social media.

Method Structured questionnaire was distributed among 208 students through personal visits and emails.

Results The study determines that Facebook was the frequently useable application among these students. The majority of the students used social media for academic and entertainment purposes.

Conclusion The study concluded that the social media has positive impacts on the studies of the students.

In Spring 2016, a phone call arrived at the Rayfield Archives from the demolition site of an Illinois State University campus dormitory. Workers at the site had uncovered a time capsule and didn’t know where to send it. In the following months, the Rayfield Archives partnered with ISU units, including Marketing and Facilities, to promote the find and redirect a narrative of the sad loss of a dormitory to one of renewal and discovery.
