The present study examines the reliability of web citations in scholarly journals of Library and Information Science and Communication and Media Studies. The journals were selected based on their high impact factor published between 2008 and 2017. A total 5,55,428 references were extracted, out of which 1,02,718 had web citations. The research findings indicated that there more number of URLs in CMS journal articles than in LIS journal articles. While examining the characteristic features of the URLs cited, it was found that .html files and organizational (.org) top-level domain were the most cited in both the disciplines. All articles relevant to MWM research have been retrieved using the Web of Science (WOS) database. Bibliometric analysis for co-citation, linking, scientific collaboration analysis, co-word analysis and visualizing bibliometric networks were used by many important bibliometric tools, such as Biblioshiny, ScientoPy and VOSviewer. This article serves as resource for libraries in rural and suburban areas that are serving communities experiencing changes to their ethnic diversity, particularly an influx of immigrants from one central location with English as a second language (i.e. India, China, Syria, etc.). Within, resources include: research supporting the benefits of having a multilingual collection; common missteps and pitfalls in serving minority communities; examples of how to determine the community’s needs; provides recommendations for finding community partners; and shares resources from the American Library Association and other organizations to find grants, develop collections, and conduct outreach services.

Open access was intended to be the great equalizer but its promise has not come to fruition in many lower-income countries of the Global South. Under-resourcing is only one of the many reasons why these scholars and publishers are marginalized. In order to examine inequality in our global scholarly communications system, we can compare a negative and a positive outgrowth of this imbalance. Predatory publishing represents a a weak imitation of traditional, commercial journal publishing. In contrast, Latin America’s community-based, quality scholarly infrastructure is anti-colonial. Introduction The main theme of the study is to investigate the usage of social media among the student of Department of Library and Information Science.

Objectives To examines the most useable social media applications, purpose of their use and impacts of social media.

Method Structured questionnaire was distributed among 208 students through personal visits and emails.

Results The study determines that Facebook was the frequently useable application among these students. The majority of the students used social media for academic and entertainment purposes.

Conclusion The study concluded that the social media has positive impacts on the studies of the students.
