Purpose: This study aimed at measuring the differences between the two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) radiographic boundaries for molar distalization, and their correlations for the amount of maxillary molar distalization.

The etiology of cleft lip with/without cleft palate (CL/P), one of the most frequent craniofacial birth defects worldwide, is complicated by contributions of both genetic and environmental factors. Understanding the etiology of these conditions is essential for developing preventive strategies. This study thus aims to identify regulatory networks of microRNAs (miRNAs), transcriptional factors (TFs) and non-TF genes associated with cleft lip (CL) that are conserved in humans and mice. Background: Cemento-ossifying fibroma (COF) and cementoblastoma (CB) are rare benign odontogenic tumors with a predilection for the mandible. Cemento-ossifying fibroma is a fibro-osseous lesion that originates in the tooth bearing areas of jaw and shows cementum-like tissue in a fibrotic stroma. Objectives: This study examined the agreement of summary description and treatment plan elements derived from cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and 3-Tesla (3T) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.

Methods: This retrospective study involved thirteen human subjects, all of whom had one CBCT scan (NewTom 5G, AFP Imaging, USA) and one MRI scan (Siemens Medical Solutions, DE) of the whole head performed within a two-week period. Rapid advancements in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) in removable dental prosthodontics have offered new modalities for fabrication of removable partial denture frameworks. The standard tessellation language (STL) files of the scans are used to digitally design the removable partial denture (RPD) framework, which are then printed in cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloy and finished and polished according to manufacturers’ recommendations. Background

Syphilis is a sexually-transmitted infectious disease caused by Treponema pallidum. Cases of primary and secondary syphilis are on the rise in the United States, with a 14.4% increase in new cases noted from 2017 to 2018 and an escalation of 71% between the years 2014 and 2018. Fulfilling its nickname of “the great imitator,” oral manifestations of syphilis may mimic a variety of infectious, neoplastic, or immune-mediated processes, both clinically and histopathologically. This large spectrum of appearances can create a diagnostic challenge to the clinician and/or pathologist, leading to delay in diagnosis or misdiagnosis.

Accidental contact of various chemicals in dentistry may cause damage to the gingiva. A male patient presented for a full mouth rehabilitation with ceramic crowns. The patient underwent the steps of ceramic crown preparation uneventfully. At the time of crown delivery, cotton rolls were placed in several vestibular areas for isolation. Evaluation Of The Bone Thickness Of Mandibular Molars Using Cone Beam Computed Tomography, Deniz Yanık, Ahmet Mert Nalbantoglu

Objective: To investigate buccal and lingual bone thicknesses and fenestration rate of mandibular first and second molars using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Methods: A total of CBCT images of 41 patients were selected and overall 120 mandibular molars were investigated. The buccal and lingual alveolar bone widths were measured at apex of the roots. The prevalence of fenestration in mandibular molars was recorded. Statistical analyses were performed.

Results: The buccal bone widths of mesial root of second molars were significantly lower than the lingual (p<0.05). The lingual bone widths of mesial and distal root of second molars were lower than the buccal (p<0.05). The lowest thickness of buccal and lingual bone was observed in mesial root of first molar and distal root of second molar. The prevalence of fenestration in mandibular first and second molars was 5% and 10%.

Conclusion: The buccal bone widths were lower at the first molar than the second molar. …
