OBJECTIVES: The use of interactive mobile health (mHealth) applications to monitor patient-reported postoperative pain outcomes is an emerging area in dentistry that requires further exploration. This study aimed to evaluate and improve the usability of an existing mHealth application.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: The usability of the application was assessed iteratively using a 3-phase approach, including a rapid cognitive walkthrough (Phase I), lab-based usability testing (Phase II), and

Peripheral ameloblastoma is a benign, painless, and slow-growing odontogenic tumor, which commonly affects gingival soft tissues or edentulous alveolar areas. Peripheral ameloblastoma is typically found during the 5th to 7th decades of life, with a mean patient age of 52 years, and exhibits a male predilection. Histopathology features are consistent with those of conventional ameloblastoma. The treatment of choice is conservative surgical excision with minimal disease-free margins and appropriate follow-up.

Dynamic surgical guidance (DSG) is a recent advance in implant dentistry, used in an effort to maximize the efficiency and predictability of implant surgeries. A study, conducted by Navigate Surgical Technologies using the Inliant system, was undertaken in Toronto, Canada to analyze the success and accuracy of this technology. Twenty-three implants placed in twenty-two subjects were examined. The results showed that implant placement using Inliant was extremely accurate when compared to the pre-surgical plan. Proper oral health is imperative to overall health, but obstacles often persist in

receiving proper oral health care. Lack of dental insurance coverage and economic recessions are two main factors contributing to oral health outcomes. Extended time without cleanings or addressing current oral health concerns exacerbates oral health problems into more costly procedures for the patient that are conveniently not covered by many insurance plans. This thesis investigates the oral health outcomes associated with periods following economic downturns, specifically citing the time of the Great Recession from 2007-2009.

The laws and systems surrounding reporting practice leave dentists working in pediatric settings with the responsibility of making a quick judgment about child maltreatment, with limited information, and sometimes limited training. Increased interdisciplinary collaboration and education on child welfare is necessary to better prepare and support dentists for practice with children who may present with suspected child maltreatment.

Dental implantation is an increasingly common procedure used to treat missing teeth. However, surgical drilling to place the implant poses a high risk of injury to critical anatomy, such as inferior alveolar nerve injury or maxillary sinus perforation. A real-time surgical feedback system sensing proximity of these critical anatomy could reduce injury risks. This dissertation investigates the development of such a system that incorporates an electrical impedance sensor into the tip of a surgical drill.

INTRODUCTION: Cranio-cervical anomalies are significant complications of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), a rare bone fragility disorder that is usually caused by mutations in collagen type I encoding genes.

OBJECTIVE: To assess cranio-cervical anomalies and associated clinical findings in patients with moderate-to-severe OI using 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans.

Background: Periodontal disease (PD), affecting 20-50% of the global population is marked by biofilm-induced inflammation in oral tissues. Chronic PD results in systemic complications such as heart disease, stroke, and Alzheimer's. The red complex microbes, Porphyromonas gingivalis and Treponema denticola, play a pivotal role, penetrating the blood-brain barrier and contributing to neurodegeneration. Alzheimer's disease (AD), an irreversible neurodegenerative disorder, is linked to abnormal protein cleavage and potentially involves microbiologic components, including gram-positive cocci. Background

The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) on clinical parameters and microbial composition in subgingival plaque of periodontitis patients.

Methods

Seventeen patients were included in this split-mouth randomized clinical trial. Sites with probing pocket depth (PPD) ≥5 mm in combination with bleeding on probing in different quadrants were randomized into the control group, the group with a single PDT application right after SRP, and the group with three repeated PDT applications 1 week after SRP. A revision of the Central American species of the genus Brachiacantha was undertaken to update the knowledge of the Central American species of the genus. OBJECTIVE: This study analyzed and compared the biomechanical properties of maxillary sinus floor mucosa with implants at three different maxillary sinus angles during a modified internal sinus floor elevation procedure.

METHODS: 3D reconstruction of the implant, maxillary sinus bone, and membrane were performed. The maxillary sinus model was set at three different angles. Two internal maxillary sinus elevation models were established, and finite element analysis was used to simulate the modified maxillary sinus elevation process.
