A Model For Small Illinois School Districts In Response To Financial Crisis, Michael A. Weaver

This study describes the options available to small, rural Illinois school districts that face financial crises. The implications for a particular school relative to consolidation, annexation, cooperative high schools, tuitioning out, and tax referenda are described. Survey results relative to school effectiveness, the financial future, and school loyalty are reported and analyzed. The study concludes with a recommendation which appears most appropriate to solve the financial problems of the Findlay Community Unit School District #2.

This study identified from the literature and research school effectiveness factors which can be applied to the Kell Community Consolidated School District for the purpose of improvement. The seven factors identified were: (1) Safe and orderly environment, (2) Clear and focused school mission, (3) Instructional leadership, (4) School climate of high expectations, (5) Opportunity to learn and student time on task, (6) Frequent monitoring of student progress, and (7) Home-school relations. This study also identified elements within each of the seven school effectiveness factors which could be utilized by the Kell Community Consolidated School District to conduct a self-evaluation. The purpose of this superintendent internship was to provide practical experiences for the student germane to the role of superintendent. These experiences were selected under the advisement of Dr. Larry Janes with cognizance of the general objectives of the internship (Attachment A) and the student's own voids in administrative experience.
The internship has been under the direction of Superintendent Donald Magee of the Argenta-Oreana Community Unit District Number 1. District Number 1 is a consolidated district with 1,226 students. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of parental involvement between parent and child as well as between parent and school. After the level of parent participation was established, the data set was used to determine whether a relationship exists between the level of parental involvement and student achievement at selected secondary urban schools. The selected secondary schools include two different school divisions.
The study employed five approaches: (1) a descriptive analysis of the variables of parental interaction with the child as it relates to a personal, affective level; a monitoring level; and a social level; as …

Iowa middle level schools during the spring semester of 1988 were described in terms of grade level groupings, titles, instructional patterns, and pupil control orientations of teachers. This data was compared to data about Iowa middle level schools collected during the 1970-71 and 1979-80 years as well as data collected in recent years form studies across the nation. Changes in middle level education were documented.

This collection is predominantly composed of Kumlien’s notes for assorted music courses he taught while at Marshall. A Study Of Some Characteristics Of Chippewa Valley Public School Teachers And Their Attitudes Toward Merit Pay, Michael D. Samulski

The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a relationship between certain personal characteristics, educational background, and educational philosophical opinions of teachers and their level of support of merit pay and related forms of compensation. It was also the purpose of this study to determine if there is a relationship between personal characteristics, educational background, and educational philosophical opinions of teachers and the extent to which they think merit pay has an effect on learning. Teachers in the Chippewa Valley Schools in Macomb County, Michigan, were the subject of this study.
