This study was concerned with utilization of nursing personnel on a selected hospital unit. The purposes of the study were to: (1) show if the department was overstaffed or understaffed, (2) Indicate if there were too many students for the size of the department, (3) show how adjustments could he made within the department to equalize the nursing care provided to patients, and (4) see if it were possible to predict the proper number of personnel needed for optimum service.

The significance of the student's reactions to various educational experiences has been receiving increasing recognition during the last several years. This study was conducted to identify factors from nursing students' opinions concerning what clinical instructors do that influence effective student performance. The purpose of this study was to identify factors that contributed to the turnover among nursing personnel of a selected hospital in a large metropolitan city. It was felt that such a study would assist in the reduction of turnover among the nursing personnel.

Other similar studies revealed that reasons for turnover among hospital nursing personnel were due to low salaries, hours of work, work loads, communications, improper placement, poor supervision, and a lack of promotional opportunities. The purpose of this study was to find out if nurses who were responsible for planning patient care functioned primarily on the basis of hospital routines and physicians' orders or on the basis of known patient needs.

The interview technique was use to obtain data about determinants of nursing activities of twenty-five head nurses and team leaders in three hospitals. The interview questions were focused on the nursing activities involved in planning the care of three patients selected by the nurses.

It was the purpose of this survey to find out what post-basic preparation the administrative, supervisory and head nurses had received for their positions in six Seventh-day Adventist hospitals. The descriptive survey was chosen as the method of approach in the study. An information card was devised to gather the data. A total of 190 or 81 percent of the 235 anticipated responses were returned. The purpose of this study was to observe and analyze the activities of the nursing team leader on a selected medical unit of the Loma Linda Sanitarium and Hospital and to measure the percentage of time spent in each recognized function.

To accomplish this, the descriptive survey method was used. Six team leaders were "shadowed" by an. observer for a total of ten days. For this study the normative survey approach was used as the method of research. The SRA Employee Inventory put out by Science Research Associates, Inc., in connection with the Industrial Relations Center of the University of Chicago was the tool of research used to collect the data. This study was conducted to find out if Paradise Valley School of Nursing is meeting certain specified objectives and to gather information which could help in future curriculum planning to better meet the needs of the students.

The normative-survey was the method used to gather data from graduates of the 1950-1957 classes. This group comprised those graduating from the three-year diploma program. A questionnaire was mailed to 149 graduates of which 124 responded.

The purpose of thin study was to develop a plan for inservice education for the graduate nurse staff in a small maternity unit that would encourage optimum nursing care.

A questionnaire was prepared and given to those nurses who had been employed in the maternity unit during the sixteen month period prior to the date of mailing the questionnaire.
