This thesis was made with the goal of creating a 2D short film in the end, with mainly using a program that is not normally used for character animation: Adobe After Effects. With the usage of an originally French plugin called DuIK Bassel (v16.0.9), I was able to create a model in Adobe Photoshop and then put it into After Effects. When the files were imported, the plugin would then assist in the rigging process, wherein I would be able to create the character’s rig and make the 2D model within the program. Mies van der Rohe designed the Farnsworth House as a personification of his architectural vision, an architectural language void of the mistakes of the past that could be taught universally. Mies’ illusory idea of free-flowing anti-space was ideologically unconnected to the cinematic arts, nevertheless the application of his design philosophy consequently resulted in spaces that were scenographic and cinematic. Just as a cinematographer establishes a relationship between the viewer and the scene, Mies van der Rohe used perspective to frame views transforming the Farnsworth House into an intermediary object establishing a relationship between nature and the viewer. This creative-nonfiction project encapsulates a Japanese family diaspora to America beginning in the late 1880s. Through short stories, poems, and monologues, the author expresses familial struggles such as living in a foreign land and being Japanese in White America. The author reflects on her grandparents' time in the Japanese internment camps where they faced hardship and hegemonic oppression as well as her father's experience of growing up Japanese-American in Los Angeles. The stories weave together history, hardship, and race to create a unique diaspora story.

Between 1930 and 1955 São Paulo, Brazil experienced a period of accelerated growth as the population nearly quadrupled from 550,000 to two million. In response, the municipal government undertook an aggressive public works program and commercial building boomed. Photographic representations of the cityscape were essential in directing modern São Paulo’s physical evolution because they reflected both the real—a chaotically growing megacity—and the ideal—a literally new, modernized space. This dissertation centers on four case studies of artists practicing different photographic modalities in order to analyze the symbiotic relationship between São Paulo's urban development and its photographic representation.

This thesis explores the life-work chronology of the dancers and choreographers Clotilde von Derp (whose surname then was Sakharoff) and Alexander Sakharoff, who were exiled in Montevideo, Uruguay, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, between 1941 and 1948. During their stay in the Rio de la Plata region, the Sakharoffs stirred up the art scene by performing extremely detailed dances with great attention to costume design. This thesis begins with a review of the reception of the dancers’ performances by the artistic and cultural circles in Montevideo, arguing that the Sakharoffs’ “queer” trajectory resonated with the Uruguayan artistic community, influencing the creation …

As part of my analytical process of looking at data collected from a pilot study on the use of film in the classroom, I discovered that I had the space to engage in a creative analysis process. In this article, I propose that creative methods be employed when analyzing data. 香港社會在六、七十年代之交可算風起雲湧，先來六六、六七年兩場不同因由的騷動，接著又掀起了中文成為法定語文、保衛釣魚台等連串場的社會運動，及至反貪運動才稍告一段落。當時的文化雜誌不但投入關注，好些還會介入或參與運動。本研究選取了一九六六至七三年間，《大學生活》(1955-1971)、《盤古》(1967-78)，以及《七Ｏ年代》（1970-76, 78）幾本各具代表性的雜誌作考察，追踪當時文化界出版物上的政治性視覺生產。

所謂「政治性視覺生產」(political visual production)，意指視覺性元素與政治的連結發揮，將之應用在「文化雜誌」場域，主要指通過封面、插圖、排版等元素作視覺性的操作，介入社運或政治文化。文化雜誌作為印刷出版物，既是媒體，也是集合思想討論的平臺，當中接通的仝人網絡，更使其成為一個富政治性與視覺性交叉滲透誘因的文化實驗空間。

透過把雜誌中的政治性視覺生產置於社運的階段性發展來觀察，研究意圖呈示時代政治關鍵性的多重起承轉合如何與之扣連，同時微觀圖像生產遇上的美學政治。正視在香港這火紅的年代造就的政治性視覺生產，其實恰如同從去政治化的香港藝術史書寫中，試勾出被隱沒了的前衛藝術系譜，在探索其特質同時，更望能引動對於香港現當代藝術發展的認知作政治性的反思。

Despite continuing to make films beyond the French New Wave, however, Godard would eventually succumb to his own myth. Godard studies have largely remained focused on these early portions of his career that are so well remembered, ranging from 1960 to 1968. This research study is a detailed content analysis focused on finding a relationship between product placements found in Hollywood and Bollywood movies that share similar plotlines with one another from the year 2006 to 2015. The researcher examined twenty movies, ten movies from each movie industry. It was found that both Hollywood and Bollywood movies use a lot of brand integration as well as long durations of brand exposure. However, the detailed log produced through the coding sheet indicated that between the years of 2006 to 2015, Bollywood used a slightly higher number and duration of product placement than the …

Using The Great American Dust Bowlby Don Brown (2013) as an exemplar text, we outline four conceptions of visual literacy: rhetorical, instructional, industrial and visuo-spatial and discuss their use in our literacy education practice. In addition, we provide a brief model of a second text, The Arrival (Tan, 2013) and a list of suggested texts for students at different levels (elementary, middle, and high school). (and i can’t stress this enough) in my mouth: Extradiegetic Affect as Material is a non-linear exploration into the structures of feeling that exist in relation to cinema in its role as a technology for generating subjectivity. In the development of this research, a proposal of cinema’s likeness to the ecological circulation of microplastics is drawn in order to illustrate cinema’s materiality and nearly invisible ubiquity. The notion of extradiegetic affect is outlined as a post-cinematic condition in which lived experience becomes secondary to cinematic representation and which, simultaneously, becomes directly shaped by engaging with these representations.

The release of the Monument Avenue Commission Report in July, 2018 was the culmination of over one year of research and collaboration with community members of Richmond, Virginia on how the city should approach the contentious history of Monument Avenue’s five Confederate centerpieces. El presente artículo aborda el estudio comparado del drama de Kaj Munk Ordet y la adaptación homónima al cine de Carl Th. Dreyer. El recurso al concepto de “reescritura fílmica” nos permite entender la relación de adaptación entre ambas obras de forma comprensiva, atendiendo a los procesos de remediación que llevan a la creación de un “cine teatralizado”. Igualmente, en la idea de reescritura se sostiene el análisis de las derivaciones ideológicas que abren el texto literario original al laicismo y a la ambigüedad poética en su versión cinematográfica.
