A consensus has emerged amongst art historians that portrays the work the Czech painter, František Kupka (1871-1957), as fluctuating between differing styles and never resolving itself into one straightforward and single-minded direction beyond abstraction. Visually this is true, but for Kupka the visual was secondary in that it plays a subsidiary role to the process involved in the creation of the work itself. A failure to properly understand this process has resulted in an inaccurate reading of Kupka's art, essentially missing the point that his paintings embody in their imagery the cognitive process involved in their creation. Digital imagery is revolutionising photography and challenging preconceived notions of this art form. Over the years, photography has been viewed metaphorically as a window on the world and on the past. No longer however, is the creation of photographic imagery reliant upon its intrinsic relationship with reality. Using computer technology original photographic material can be altered, manipulated and seamlessly combined with other fictional imagery without obvious detection and with relative ease. Jan Ekenberg shares how the idea of categorizing, analyzing, and ultimately searching for web art has been very difficult compared to the same process within traditional artworks. These problems are derived from the fact that web-based artworks are from a new medium to which we are not completely able to describe yet. To add to this issue, we see how online works are ever expanding and evolving which makes it near impossible to definitively organize them.

The article depicts the visual and conceptual significance of the film “12 Monkeys”, directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. In this film, movie genres and tropes are called into question. Terry Gilliam presents a visions of the future, but relies on the conventions of the American Western Formula. Gilliam tales a distinct approach to typical characters, allowing his proragonists to become onlookers to the foreboding issue at play. What Gilliam achieves in his 12 Monkeys is making the viewers “entertain” that the future depicted in the movie may be seen as a warning.

The implication of space in film is worth exploring in detail particularly with regard to the films of Alfred Hitchcock, since he is, perhaps more than any other filmmaker, concerned with the dynamics of proximity. Possibly because of his experience as a set designer on Graham Cutt’s silent films Woman to Woman (1922), The White Shadow (1923), The Passionate Adventure (1924), The Blackguard, and The Prude’s Fall (both 1925), Hitchcock very early in his career was faced with the task of expressing himself - without words - through setting, set shape, and room size.
