Objective To investigate the effect of adding ferrous sulphate (FeSO4) as a chemical activator to hydrogen peroxide tooth bleaching gels on color change and treatment time. Methods One hundred and twenty extracted human upper premolars, hue A or B, were selected. One enamel-dentin specimen was prepared from each tooth. The specimens were divided into twelve groups (n=10), based on bleaching product, FeSO4 and treatment time. CT images supply the HU information that relates to electron density (ρe). The ρe is important for tissue inhomogeneity correction for accurate dose calculation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dosimetric effect on CT images on different kVp setting using single HU-ρe curve. Anthropomorphic phantom was scanned using Siemens-SOMATOM Definition AS with 120 kVp setting and used as a reference image set. The procedures were repeated with DECT option (80/140 kVp), 80 and 140 kVp. Mannan in the outermost layer of Candida cell wall may be the first molecules that interact with host dendritic cells (DCs) and activate immune responses that determine disease outcomes. However, little is known how different mannan structures of common Candida species affect DC activation and T cell responses. Thus, this work compared the effects of mannans of Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis and Candida dubliniensis on bone marrow-derived DC (BMDC) responses in mice. This study investigated the effect of curcumin on the expression of wound healing-related genes including transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), transforming growth factor beta receptor type I (TGFβR I), transforming growth factor beta receptor type II (TGFβR II) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in human gingival fibroblasts. The cytotoxicity of curcumin was determined by MTT assay. Then, cells were treated with non-cytotoxic concentrations of curcumin for 24 hours and the level of gene expression was determined by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Materials and Methods: This research is a cross sectional study of 60 children with cerebral palsy, aged 3-6 years, mean age 5.01 ± 1.23 years old. The objective of this study was to determine the association of complete denture quality, patient's satisfaction, and Oral Health-related Quality of Life (OHRQoL). A total of 126 complete denture wearers was interviewed for the primary outcome, OHRQoL, using Oral Impacts on Daily Performances (OIDP) index. Secondary outcomes were patient's satisfaction and masticatory performance. Denture retention and stability were scored following the conventional and Chulalongkorn University (CU)-modified Kapur criteria. Esthetic-assessment criteria was evaluated from patient's photographs. This study aimed to investigate amount of γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS) silanized on experimental nanosilica particles (NPs), amount of NPs and amount of MPS silanized NP on flexural strength (FS), flexural modulus (FM), and fracture toughness (FT) of NP reinforced polymethymethacrylate (PMMA). The chemisorbed amount of MPS was determined using elemental analysis. การแสดงออกของซีดี 146 ในรอยโรคไลเคน แพลนัสและมะเร็งช่องปากในผู้ป่วยไทย, สรินธร ปริยะวาที

การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการแสดงออกของซีดี 146 ในเยื่อเมือกช่องปากปกติ (NOM) ไลเคน แพลนัสช่องปาก (OLP) อีพิทีเลียล ดิสเพลเซียช่องปาก (OED) และมะเร็งเยื่อบุผิวเซลล์สควอมัสช่องปาก (OSCC) ในผู้ป่วยไทย โดยนำชิ้นเนื้อจากกลุ่มตัวอย่าง กลุ่มละ 20 ชิ้นมาทำการศึกษาด้วยวิธีทางอิมมูโนฮิสโตเคมี เพื่อประเมินจำนวนเคอราติโนไซต์ที่มีการแสดงออกของซีดี 146 และความเข้มในการติดสี พบว่ามีการเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญของค่าเฉลี่ยร้อยละของจำนวนเคอราติโนไซต์ที่มีการแสดงออกของซีดี 146 ในกลุ่ม OLP (P < 0.001) และกลุ่ม OED (P < 0.001) เมื่อเทียบกับกลุ่ม NOM โดยกลุ่ม NOM, OLP, OED มีค่าเฉลี่ยร้อยละของจำนวนเคอราติโนไซต์ที่มีการแสดงออกของซีดี 146 เท่ากับ 19.04±15.32, 59.40±24.48, 60.04±28.87 ตามลำดับ พบการลดลงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญของค่าเฉลี่ยร้อยละของจำนวนเคอราติโนไซต์ที่มีการแสดงออกของซีดี 146 ในกลุ่ม OSCC เมื่อเทียบกับกลุ่ม OED (P<0.001) โดยค่าเฉลี่ยร้อยละของจำนวนเคอราติโนไซต์ที่มีการแสดงออกของซีดี 146 ในกลุ่ม OSCC เท่ากับ 22.13±21.03 พบความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญของความเข้มในการติดสีระหว่างกลุ่ม NOM กับกลุ่ม OLP (P<0.05) กลุ่ม NOM กับกลุ่ม OED (P<0.05) กลุ่ม OLP กับกลุ่ม OED (P<0.05) กลุ่ม OLP กับกลุ่ม OSCC (P<0.05) และกลุ่ม OED กับกลุ่ม OSCC (P<0.05) ชิ้นเนื้อส่วนใหญ่ของกลุ่ม NOM และกลุ่ม OSCC ติดสีเข้มระดับจาง กลุ่ม OLP ติดสีเข้มปานกลาง และกลุ่ม OED ติดสีเข้ม ผลการศึกษานี้พบว่าซีดี 146 อาจมีบทบาทหลายด้านในรอยโรคข้างต้น โดยมีการแสดงออกที่เพิ่มขึ้นในไลเคน แพลนัสและอีพิทีเลียล ดิสเพลเซียช่องปาก แต่มีการแสดงออกลดลงในมะเร็งเยื่อบุผิวเซลล์สควอมัสช่องปาก ซีดี 146 จึงอาจเกี่ยวข้องกับพยาธิกำเนิดของโรคไลเคน แพลนัสช่องปาก และการสูญเสียการแสดงออกของซีดี 146 อาจเกี่ยวข้องกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงจากอีพิเลียล ดิสเพลเซียไปเป็นมะเร็งเยื่อบุผิวเซลล์สควอมัสช่องปากได้

การปรับระบบบริการสุขภาพให้มีบทบาทในด้านสร้างเสริมสุขภาพถือเป็นประเด็นหลักอันหนึ่งในแนวทางการดำเนินงานสร้างเสริมสุขภาพที่ได้รับการยอมรับและมีการดำเนินการในประเทศไทยมาเป็นระยะเวลาหนึ่ง ที่ผ่านมาความรู้เรื่องขอบเขตการดำเนินการงานสร้างสุขภาพและต้นทุนของกิจกรรมเหล่านั้นในโรงพยาบาลชุมชนสังกัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุขยังจำกัด การศึกษาวิจัยนี้ทำการศึกษากิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพในโรงพยาบาล โดยการทบทวนบทความวิชาการนานาชาติจากฐานข้อมูล Pubmed อย่างเป็นระบบ และการสำรวจกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพในโรงพยาบาลชุมชนของไทยจำนวน 225 แห่ง เพื่อรวบรวมรายการกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพที่เกิดขึ้นในโรงพยาบาล และ คัดเลือกกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพโดยโรงพยาบาลส่วนหนึ่งมาทำการวิเคราะห์ต้นทุนของการให้บริการโดยใช้วิธีวิเคราะห์ต้นทุนแบบฐานกิจกรรม (activity based costing) ในโรงพยาบาลชุมชนจำนวน 3 แห่งที่คัดเลือกแบบเฉพาะเจาะจงตามระดับโรงพยาบาล และนำข้อมูลต้นทุนเฉลี่ยรายองค์ประกอบไปใช้ในการประมาณต้นทุนกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพอื่น ๆ และพัฒนาเป็นดัชนีวัดการทำกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพต่อไป ผลการทบทวนกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพ โดยการทบทวนอย่างเป็นระบบ พบว่ามีบทความ 10 เรื่องที่เข้าเกณฑ์ โดยมีกิจกรรมการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพที่ระบุไว้ เช่น การตรวจค่าดัชนีมวลกายของผู้มาโรงพยาบาลเพื่อส่งผู้มีปัญหาน้ำหนักเกินปรึกษาแพทย์ การให้สารไซลิทอลในหญิงตั้งครรภ์เพื่อลดการเกิดฟันผุในลูก การจัดกิจกรรมลดปัจจัยเสี่ยงสุขภาพในผู้ป่วยทางจิต การสำรวจกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพในโรงพยาบาลชุมชนในประเทศไทยพบความชุกของการจัดกิจกรรมในกลุ่มผู้ป่วยสูงที่สุด และมีการจัดกิจกรรมให้กับญาติผู้ป่วยหรือผู้มารับบริการอื่นน้อยกว่า โรงพยาบาลส่วนใหญ่มีการจัดกิจกรรมเพื่อลดปัจจัยเสี่ยงสุขภาพให้แก่บุคลากรและประชาชนทั่วไปอย่างสม่ำเสมอ แต่ไม่ได้ดำเนินงานอย่างเป็นรูปแบบแบบแผนที่แน่นอนหรือเป็นตัวชี้วัดในการประเมินผลงาน การวิเคราะห์ต้นทุนกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพหลักของโรงพยาบาลสามแห่ง ได้แก่ งานฝากครรภ์ งานคลินิคเด็กดี งานวางแผนครอบครัว และงานคลินิคอดบุหรี่ พบว่าต้นทุนเฉลี่ยต่อนาทีขององค์ประกอบกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ มีความแตกต่างกันระหว่างโรงพยาบาลไม่มากนัก และมีต้นทุนเฉลี่ยต่อรายของบริการ อยู่ระหว่าง 113.77 บาทถึง 614.19 บาทในงานฝากครรภ์ ระหว่าง 162.47 บาทถึง 307.34 บาทในคลินิคเด็กดี ระหว่าง 207.04 บาทถึง 238.07 บาทในคลินิคอดบุหรี่ โดยต้นทุนต่อผู้รับบริการวางแผนครอบครัวมีความหลากหลายมากที่สุดจาก 104.40 ถึง 2,155.72 บาทขึ้นกับประเภทการวางแผนครอบครัวที่ใช้ โดยต้นทุนต่อหน่วยระหว่างโรงพยาบาลตามประเภทการให้บริการไม่แตกต่างกันชัดเจน ส่วนใหญ่ขึ้นกับรูปแบบการจัดบริการหรือการตรวจเพิ่มเติมทางห้องปฏิบัติการที่ได้รับ การประมาณการต้นทุนกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพอื่น ๆ โดยใช้ต้นทุนรายองค์ประกอบพบว่าอยู่ระหว่าง 46.69 ถึง 211.81 บาท และสามารถดัดแปลงเป็นดัชนีวัดการทำกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพตั้งแต่ 1.00 ถึง 4.54 ผลการวิจัยในการศึกษานี้ สามารถช่วยผู้บริหารในแต่ละองค์กรในการบริหารจัดการทรัพยากรและกระบวนการให้เหมาะสม โดยดัชนีวัดการทำกิจกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพยังสามารถนำไปใช้ประโยชน์ใน การจัดสรรงบประมาณและทรัพยากรเพื่อสนับสนุนการดำเนินงานสร้างเสริมสุขภาพของโรงพยาบาลชุมชนในประเทศได้ต่อไปในอนาคต

Objective: To determine the prevalence and possible factors associated with anaemia, and vitamin B12 and folate deficiencies in women of reproductive age (WRA) in Pakistan.
Methods: A secondary analysis was conducted on data collected through the large-scale National Nutrition Survey in Pakistan in 2011. Anaemia was defined as haemoglobin levels /dL, vitamin B12 deficiency as serum vitamin B12 levels of /mL (150 pmol/L) and folate deficiency as serum folate levels /mL (10 nmol/L).

The neopterygian fish Enchodus was a widespread, speciose genus consisting of approximately 30 recognized species that were temporally distributed from the late Early Cretaceous through the Paleocene. Many Enchodus specimens are fragmentary cranial remains or isolated dental elements, as is the case for previously reported occurrences in Egypt. Here, we present the most complete specimen of Enchodus recovered from the Late Cretaceous of northeast Africa. Background/aim: Many autoimmune diseases occur concomitantly with celiac disease (CD). We aimed to determine the frequency of Sjögren's syndrome (SS) in CD patients based on SS-specific serology verified by minor labial salivary biopsy. Materials and methods: Eight-two patients with CD were included in the study. After examination for objective evidence of sicca complex, all patients were tested for serological presence of rheumatoid factor (RF) and antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) and for ANA profile.
