Therefore, in this research, two image recognition feature extraction methods namely Curvelet Wavelet-Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (CWGLCM) and Fuzzy-Spatial Pyramid Matching (F-SPM) are proposed to provide reliable inputs for vision-based apple classification in smart manufacturing. Cost-efficient, robust and flexible laser systems are vital for a wide-range of applications ranging from high-precision material processing to biomedicine. This thesis aims to explore pure silver and gold based saturable absorbers (SAs) as Q-switcher and mode-locker in various fibre laser cavities. The generations of Q-switched pulses in 1-,1.55-, and 2-micron regions have been successfully demonstrated using a pure gold, which was deposited using electron beam deposition onto a PVA thin-film as SA. This paper presents a control algorithm of 3ph STATic synchronous COMpensator (STATCOM). The algorithm depends on the accurate reference currents extraction from only the nonlinear load current spec-trum in frequency domain using Fast Fourier Transfer (FFT). Then the determined harmonics and reactive components of load current are added together to form the compensating reference signals, the PI controllers then generate signals which control the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) method. This study was conducted to examine the impact of dumpsites on the quality of groundwater and surface water. The water samples and leachates were collected from dumpsites in respective zones. The physicochemical properties of the samples were examined and determined in accordance with the standards of the American Public Health Association. Oil spillage and generation of industrial water–oil wastewater mixture ignite a focus on filtration technology. Electrospinning technique provides a versatile route in producing tunable diameter and pores in nanofiber filtration membrane development. In this work, polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) and cellulose acetate (CA) electrospun membrane at different concentration ratios were synthesized for water–oil filtration application. The polymeric solutions were characterized using viscometer and conductivity testing, whereas the membranes were analyzed using contact angle, tensile test, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and filtration testing of oil (dichloromethane). The Saleh behavioral model exhibits high prediction accuracy for nonlinearity of traveling-wave tube power amplifiers (TWT-PAs). However, the accuracy of the Saleh model degrades when modeling solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs) technology. In addition, the polynomial expansion of the Saleh model consists of only odd-order terms as analyzed in this work. This paper proposes a novel model accuracy enhancement for the Saleh amplitude-to-amplitude (AM/AM) model when applied to radio frequency (RF) SSPAs. This dissertation is comprised of two unrelated design endeavors. The first one is about two CMOS nonreciprocal components: 1) an isolator and 2) a circulator. To make the components compact enough for the next generation communication systems with wide bandwidth, both components operate at 100 GHz band for full-duplex transceivers for ultra-high-data-rate millimeter-wave wireless communication. The proposed nonreciprocal structures are based on a time-domain modulation by signals at around 1/6 of the RF frequencies and spatial duplexing over the RF signal paths, demonstrating over 45 dB isolation in a bandwidth of 1.5 GHz over the tuning range of 85-110 GHz. …

A multimodal generative modeling approach combined with permutation-invariant set attention is investigated in this paper to support long-wave infrared (LWIR) in-scene atmospheric compensation. The generative model can produce realistic atmospheric state vectors (T;H2O;O3) and their corresponding transmittance, upwelling radiance, and downwelling radiance (TUD) vectors by sampling a low-dimensional space. Variational loss, LWIR radiative transfer loss and atmospheric state loss constrain the low-dimensional space, resulting in lower reconstruction error compared to standard mean-squared error approaches. Direct digital synthesis (DDS) architectures are becoming more prevalent as modern digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and programmable logic devices evolve to support higher bandwidths. The DDS architecture provides the benefit of digital control but at a cost of generating spurious content in the spectrum. The generated spurious content may cause intermodulation distortion preventing proper demodulation of the received signal. The distortion may also interfere with the neighboring frequency bands.
