Newsletter of the Jussi Björling Societies of the USA & UK
This Newsletter accompanies the biggest, tardiest issue of our Journal yet produced, in our three years of existence! When Mickey Dove was Editor, she made sure that the Spring issue appeared in March - that remains my goal too, for future issues, but my ambitions for this issue overwhelmed my schedule. We went to press on April 15, then somehow our publisher took 6 weeks to produce this issue! My apologies.

One year ago, we'd had our first successful conference and had a sense of validation by the events of the year: good cooperation from our colleagues in Sweden and the U.K., much news of Jussi as singer of the century in various polls, and the satisfaction of meeting many of you in Washington: We felt a bit worn down tin:111cially, unable to do some of the things we wanted, so we issued an appeal, to give us some resources to make more progress, explaining what we wanted to do. Your response was more generous than any of us expected, and …

Our first JBS Conference in Washington, D.C., during early June 1999, was a happy success and we've been trying to find the right formula for our second. Now the JBS Board has decided to accept the warm invitation of Anders Bjorling to meet on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College in St Peter, MN, in the anniversary year 2001 and at a beautiful venue: the Jussi Bjorling Concert Hall, for four days during the last weekend in June.

Looking Down From The Top Of A Redwood Tree, Keri Pertuit
LSU Master's Theses
“Looking Down from the Top of a Redwood Tree” was a collaboration with my brother, Fabein Miguel Disedare.
