This graduate thesis consists of a vocal recital and the accompanying program notes. The recital includes a compilation of traditional Neapolitan songs, “5 Songs of Laurence Hope” by the H.T. Burleigh, and selections from the French opera “Werther” by Jules Massenet,. The program notes for each selection will include biographical information, musical analysis, performance history and culture, as well as other pertinent information

It was in about 1828–29 that Parisian guitarist and publisher Charles de Marescot brought before the public a short collection of his easier solo guitar pieces entitled La Guitaromanie. It was enhanced with six unpaginated satirical lithographs, of which the most memorable one (“Discussion entre les Carulistes et les Molinistes”) appears on this issue’s cover. In this dissertation, challenges and limitations related to presenting Così fan tutte within a small university setting are conveyed, as well as offering innovative ideas to create a manageable presentation. I recall my personal experience as Korepititor/Vocal Coach for The University of Southern Mississippi’s 2014 production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte. This document presents topics on the various workings of an opera production: pre-rehearsal preparation, language issues, rehearsal preparation, selection of singers, and production issues. MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is the technology that allows synthesizers and controllers to communicate and manipulate other pieces of gear as well as computer software. This technology has permanently changed the way music is produced and performed. This paper will explore the importance of MIDI technology as a tool for music production as well as for music performance. Dementia currently affects over 35 million people worldwide – a number that is expected to triple by the year 2050 according to the report, “Dementia: a public health priority” by World Health Organization and Alzheimer’s Disease International. Despite the high population of people with dementia, there are currently no cures for the diseases within this category. Music Educators find themselves ill prepared and overwhelmed during their first years of teaching for a number of reasons. Due in part to this issue, less priority is placed on string bass education for pre-service teachers. The implications this are a consistent neglect of string bass players and instruments from emerging teachers resulting in loss of students and inventory. Originally noticed in Denver Public Schools, this article will seek to identify this problem as systemic, provide scope, and offer solutions toward correcting it.

The purpose of this bibliography is to provide resources for further research into the adverse effects that the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 has had on music education in terms of funding, enrollment, and policy enactment. The ultimate goal of this is to better understand how broad policy can influence individual communities so that practical solutions for overcoming such obstacles may be better solidified and enacted by the public.

Electronic Dance Music, or EDM, is a genre of music that has enjoyed success. Although it grew out of art music in the twentieth century, EDM is considered popular music. But, is the future of EDM confined only within popular music or is there potential for it to influence or become art music?
