The transition from pediatric to adult healthcare has become healthcare concern of increasing importance as more adolescents with chronic conditions survive to adulthood requiring continuing care. In order to understand the current status of healthcare transition (HCT), we identified the HCT services received by young adults, their existing healthcare self-management skills and how skills correlated with their quality of life. A correlational and retrospective cross-sectional online survey of English-speaking young adults in the United States ages 18-26 with at least one pediatrically diagnosed chronic condition was conducted August-October 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine if the healthcare needs of homeless young adults from the client, shelter staff, and shelter healthcare provider’s perspectives. Data was collected via focus group with homeless unaccompanied young adults (n=4), and an online survey with shelter staff and healthcare staff (n=8) of The Night Ministry (TNM) and Ignite Promise. The focus group was recorded, transcribed, and coded for themes. Inductive analysis revealed themes focused on improving the quality of services provided. Nutrition and child health programs were integrated into the extension programs from 2016-2018 of the Occidental Mindoro State College, in partnership with the local government unit at the municipal and barangay levels. This paper presents the health extension tools and techniques used in preventative care and the promotion of child health services in the indigenous community of Sitio Bato Singit, in the Occidental Mindoro Province, Philippines. Problem Bronchiolitis is the leading diagnosis of hospitalizations for children under one-year. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of supportive high-flow oxygen (HFO) therapy for infant patients requiring more than 2L/min nasal cannula (NC).

Methods An observational, descriptive design with convenience sampling of infants aged one-year or less, hospitalized with bronchiolitis and requiring HFO therapy. Comparisons were done between 2019 when no HFO was allowed on the general unit and in 2020 when HFO was allowed.

A holistic assessment of these patients has been suggested, but is not typically performed in most pediatric asthma clinics. Problem Adolescents and young adult females are at risk for experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV). Females aged 16- to 24-years of age experience IPV three times more likely than males. Universal screening for adolescent IPV is considered a gold standard for adolescent anticipatory guidance. The purpose of this quality improvement initiative was to evaluate the impact of an adolescent IPV screening instrument in an urban, Midwestern shelter for pregnant adolescent and young adult females.

Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) is a ductal dependent congenital heart defect that causes decreased blood flow to areas of the body distal to the site of constriction. CoA is one of the most common congenital heart defects, though is often missed in neonatal assessments. Neonatal patients with CoA often present to the hospital in a state of cardiopulmonary collapse. CoA is occasionally diagnosed in older children and adults who have upper extremity hypertension and decreased femoral pulses. Background: The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends six well child checks (WCC) between 2 to 15 months. A large pediatric clinic in Southern California has an attendance rate of 86% and a very mobile population. Reminder phone calls have been shown to improve WCC attendance.

Aims of Service Change: Improve WCC attendance to >90%. As an interim step, we implemented a pilot project and measured responses to AudioCOMMUNICATOR™ reminder calls.

Outcome: In two months 148 calls were made, the majority,74%, went unanswered. 26% were able to schedule an appointment or discharge from the clinic.

Purpose: The purpose of this pilot project is to screen for iron-deficiency anemia in pediatric patients (ages 1-17) in a primary school in Gonaïves, Haiti. Patients with anemia will be treated with oral supplemental iron for a period of four weeks according to WHO guidelines (WHO, 2011). All students will be treated empirically for helminths per WHO guidelines, unless treated elsewhere in the last six months (WHO, 2017).
