The current scholarly communication landscape is populated by a variety of actors and powered by an ever-increasing array of complementary and competitive systems for the production, publication, and distribution of scholarship. Recent years have also seen increasing numbers of proposals to recast these systems in ways that better align with the needs and values of the academy and its scholars. In this editorial, members of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Librarianship and Scholarly Communication consider the present environment and contemplate the future of academy-owned and -supported scholarly communication, as well as the role of libraries in that future. …

The study evaluates the average number of research articles published in each volume of a research journal published in a particular subject discipline. The quality of teaching, research and community service of lecturers coupled with their publication in any university system depend on the quality of the electronic database they use. This study therefore, investigated the knowledge of electronic databases as predictors of research productivity of academic staff in private universities in South-west, Nigeria.

The descriptive survey research design of the correlational type was adopted. A total of 1656 academic staff in in the 21 private universities were sampled. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the Journal of Library Herald for the period of 10 years (2008-2017). The total number of published articles during the period of study was 222 articles in a particular journal. The aim of this paper was to analysis the authorship pattern, geographical distribution, prolific author, reference distributions, and authorship pattern of reference. And found out that 97 (43.68%) articles were contributed by single authors, followed by two authors 87 (39.18%). Over the past decade, the University Libraries' Digital Collections have grown from an assemblage of discrete projects into two distinct programs that curate, manage, and publish digitized and born-digital materials online for educational and scholarly uses by Grand Valley State University's community and the wider public.

The Qualitative Report

The authors conduct an exposé on the deterministic denunciations of Qualitative Data Analysis Software (QDAS) and how citation errors keep these criticisms alive. They use a zombie metaphor to describe more than two decades of battling these seemingly mindless assessments of QDAS that keep coming –despite their decay – and simply will not die. Focusing exclusively on the criticism of separation/distancing, which alleges that the computer and the software interfere with the researcher’s familiarity with the data, the authors trace one current strand of this criticism through a literature genealogy. Like any project that has been around this long, PKP is facing the substantial responsibilities of maturity, seeking ways that will enable it to best serve the thousands of people who utilize our software to operate and index the journals and presses with which they work.
