Faculty Tenure Program Book Selections

The Leatherby Libraries Faculty Tenure Program, in collaboration with the Office of the Provost, recognizes Chapman University faculty who have recently been awarded tenure. Each newly tenured faculty selects a book of their choice and a brief statement on why this book was selected. This collection of monographs are accessible in physical format and located in the Book Nook on the 1^st floor of the Leatherby Libraries.

Design/Methodology: This study used qualitative design and methodology utilizing a systematic review and synthesis of empirical research, institutional reports and documents published between 1978 and 2025 to achieve its objectives. An extensive review of the pertinent literature was undertaken to underscore the journey and permutations of the death of books and libraries. This conceptual review synthesizes the interplay between digital technologies, digital transformation,and libraries in information dissemination. Sustainable development is a priority worldwide and is driving institutions in different sectors to be environmentally, socially and economically responsible. Libraries have also taken action on the topic of sustainability, including greening, sustainable service, digital transformation and support for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, studies suggest that their use has not been fully optimized by academic staff at polytechnics located within South-West, Nigeria. Academic libraries worldwide are rapidly experimenting with artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance research, learning, discovery, operations, and user engagement. However, many institutions continue to approach AI adoption primarily through isolated pilots, individual experimentation, or technology-centric initiatives. While these efforts generate innovation, they often struggle to scale sustainably without corresponding organisational capability development. This presentation argues that AI-ready libraries require AI-ready librarians and proposes an organisational capability approach for sustainable AI transformation in academic libraries. The authors explored the knowledge graduate students and faculty in Columbus State University’s College of Education and Health Professions have surrounding the Georgia Library Learning Online (GALILEO) platform. Additionally, the authors wanted to determine how students used GALILEO and how faculty may have supported their efforts. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected to explore the questions posed. Quantitative data included usage reports from GALILEO and descriptive statistics. Qualitative data were coded to determine themes and opinions of faculty/students. Quantitative reports showed the databases students prefer and how they prefer to use them. Ten years after the publication of a manifesto attempting to describe what digital scholarship could do for and within libraries, some of the original authors reflect on the progress of the call-to-action. This article describes areas in which the integration of digital scholarship activities as core parts of librarianship has and has not become commonplace and traces larger-scale developments in the academy and global knowledge landscape that have contributed to the accuracy of the predictions made in 2017.

The study investigated lecturers’ academic self-concept and use of artificial intelligence tools on scholarly output in the Lagos State University of Education, Nigeria. This is to ascertain lecturers’ academic self-concept and the use of artificial intelligence tools in their scholarly output. The descriptive research design was adopted, and total enumeration was used for the study; a total of 179 lecturers participated in the study. A structured questionnaire tagged ‘Academic Self-concept, Artificial Intelligence, and Lecturers’ Scholarly Output (ASAILSO) with a reliability coefficient of 0.81 was used for data collection. Though a crucial part of archives work, emotional labor and its effect on the profession are not well understood. From professional transitions, the loss of a residence, a health crisis, or the loss of a loved one, archivists who have limited experience in working with donors enduring a life crisis can themselves experience emotional trauma. Current archival literature on donor relations primarily focuses on the processes and procedures involved in working with donors to transfer materials. Rationale

The misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming prevalent in academia, particularly among undergraduates. This situation could undermine the main objective of education at the university level, which is aimed at building future professionals for general development. This study examined the determinants of the abuse of artificial intelligence (AI) for academic purposes among Nigerian university undergraduates, with particular focus on federal universities in Southwestern Nigeria.
