Non-librarians often have the mistaken idea that because a publication is online it is cheaper than print, and that libraries actually save money by going fully digital. The truth is, academic libraries pay many, many more times above list price for providing the convenience of online institutional access, and the prices increase each year. We hope the following infographic will give our users a sense for how much annual subscriptions to popular medical journals and journal packages cost the TMC Library.

The McGovern Historical Center (MHC) archivists have been digitizing images from their collection in response to patron inquiries, library exhibits, and patron requests. The digitized images are part of the Texas Medical Center Photograph Collection from 1938 – 1982.

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) is moving to a new web hosting platform in early 2022. The migration is corresponding with a visual refresh of the site. The new website is being designed to offer a new reader-centric look and feel for PNAS readers and authors.

The migration date is slated for February 28, 2022.

Introduction: One of the proposed indicators for the prevention and control of COVID-19pandemic disease; is having health literacy components in both dimension Coronavirus-Related Health Literacy and e-health literacy. This study aimed to review the scientific literature related to dimensions studied in Coronavirus-Related Health Literacy.

Methods: This study is a narrative review. The articles addressed Coronavirus-Related Health Literacy searched in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS), and then reviewed.

Health disparities within Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities are often masked due to aggregated data. Lack of adequate data limits required health care services for these communities. While moving forward toward health equity, it is critical that disparities for API communities are acknowledged and addressed. This article focuses on the issues of aggregated data for API communities followed by suggestions on how health sciences librarians can support and promote better practices for data disaggregation.

The goal of this research was to see how the internet helped to bridge the digital divide between Jordanians during the Coronavirus outbreak. A quantitative approach is adopted. 210 questionnaire forms were distributed randomly to the members of the sample through using: (https://docs.google.com). They were distributed using email and WhatsApp. 200 forms were analyzed. They represent 95% of the distributed forms. The questionnaire consists of 20 statements. The Library Committee is a requirement of the RGH Medical/Dental Staff and is facilitated by Dr. Scott Schabel. After RGH and Unity merged, the Libraries formed one department and expanded access and services to all RRH sites. The Library committee, composed of staff from across the health system, provide feedback and share library news with their teams. The committee meets 2x/year via Zoom.

This report gives an update of the Library's status.

February 8 is National Black Women Physicians Day! The McGovern Historical Center highlights one of many amazing Black women physicians in early Texas. In 1950, less than 6% of doctors nationwide were women. Of that number, less than 2% of women physicians in the United States were Black. To practice medicine as a Black woman in the south prior to the start of the Civil Rights Movement that is why celebrating these women’s accomplishments is so important.

This study deals with the awareness and usage of various services and facilities offered by the BLDE (DU) central library during the Pandemic. The research method adopted for this study was a Google Form with a self-designed questionnaire was prepared and circulated randomly among 100 PG students of BLDE-DU, in which 66 were responded. This lightning talk will provide an overview of two projects faculty librarians undertook in response to the emerging information literacy needs of various stakeholders at Rowan University. The two projects include: a Covid-19 and misinformation online guide and a Covid-19 online research-focused guide for healthcare practitioners.

While these projects were created for different University populations with distinct informational needs (teachers, students, the general public, medical practitioners/researchers), a common theme across these projects was librarians quickly filling information gaps in response to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Background: The multi-station, summative OSCE includes a case designed to assess third-year medical students’ ability to access information at the point of care using Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) resources. Over the years, students have perceived this case to be difficult and confusing, which resulted in low performance. To address these concerns, a librarian-led EBM case learning session was developed and integrated into the formative, practice OSCE starting in 2018. The goals of the session were to increase understanding of how to search the vetted resource effectively and efficiently, incorporate evidence into practice, and emphasize the importance of EBM in clinical care. …
