Since the Chinese American Librarians Association’s Academic Resources and Repository System (CALASYS, https://ir.cala-web.org/) was initiated in 2013, its collections have grown gradually by way of the Committee’s curation and entries with occasional help from LIS students. In order to resolve the bottleneck problems, promote CALASYS and expand its content, the 2020-2021 CALASYS Committee has strongly pursued the idea of opening CALASYS to all of the CALA members. The Committee began to implement the author self-contribution plug-in in the CALASYS’ Omeka platform in 2020. This poster will focus on the implementation of the self-contribution plug-in. I explained and demonstrated the process I came up with to use OCLC WMS to do an overlap analysis of the online journal titles that we subscribe to directly through EBSCO, i.e. our paid subscriptions, and the access we have to those titles through our databases, in order to identify subscribed titles that we could potentially cancel. This is timely since the EBSCO renewal process starts in early June.

The literature is predominated by studies seeking to clarify the extent of the availability, functionality, accessibility and/or utilisation of library materials in schools at various levels. The extent of principals' management of library resources and their contribution to the lesson preparation activities of teachers seems to have been under-researched. In bridging the gap, the current study was designed to assess the extent and contribution of principals’ management of library resources to teachers’ lesson preparation practices. This article details the annual project to collect, organize, and analyze usage data to inform the library’s electronic resource renewal decisions.


Janice received the 2022 HELIN (Higher Education Library Information Network) Award in Honor of Dr. D. Russell Bailey, director of the Phillips Memorial Library at Providence College at the time of his death in 2020. The award honored a project that “best demonstrates effective use of data for the improvement of library collections, operations or services.” This article is about the project for which she won the award.

Communication Across The Electronic Resources Lifecycle: A Survey Of Academic Libraries, Jessica M. Morales, Christina A. Beis

The objective of this study was to identify common communication issues that arise during the electronic resource lifecycle and identify communication strategies academic libraries are using effectively to manage electronic resources. A survey of academic librarians and staff received 240 responses and included 5-point Likert scale ratings on communication surrounding acquisitions, access, administration, support, evaluation, and renewal at their institutions. The study found that the acquisitions, evaluation, and renewal stages of the lifecycle experienced the most issues in communication, while support had the most positive responses. RefWorks Legacy is no longer updated with the newest features of the software. If you are a regular RefWorks user, you will receive an email message asking you to export your RefWorks folders and citations from your Legacy account to your New Refworks account.

The TMC Library is happy to announce that a collection of books and DVDs from the Harris County Public Library has returned to our building. The TMC Library has partnered with Harris County Public Library since 2011, serving as a community outpost with books and DVDs plus offering hold pickup and return. The book collection departed from the TMC Library in 2017 because of renovations and is now back on site and updated for the TMC community.
