Ddc-Wise Subject Mapping Of Ndli Indexed Multileveled, Multilingual Resources: A Special Reference With Indian Languages, Debasis Majhi, Sibsankar Jana, Amit Nath, Soumik Kerketta

The study helped with the subject mapping of the resources on 22 languages included in the Indian constitution that were indexed in the National Digital Library of India from 2018 and covering the different fields of arts and humanities, social sciences, science, engineering, technology, and history. The subject mapping is based on the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) 22nd edition. The relevant/required data was collected from the official website of the National Digital Library of India (https://ndl.iitkgp.ac.in/) on 4th April 2021, Sunday by browsing subject-wise.

In order to increase the value and discoverability of their metadata, libraries explore options for making that data available and useful outside of the data silo of the library world through the adoption of Linked Data and Linked Open Data (LOD). OCLC Research conducted its 2018 International Linked Data Survey for Implementers. Results showed that 41% of the linked data projects/services described in 2018 were reported as using Wikidata as a source they consumed. An exploratory approach through extensive review of related literature was adopted for this study. Conceptual framework was developed to understand indigenous knowledge and the ways it can be documented and communicated by packaging and repackaging it for preservation and consequent dissemination from generation to generation. Transformative agreement (TA) is an umbrella term used to describe contracts between institutions and publishers intended to transform the current, primarily subscription-based, journal publishing model to a fully open access (OA) model. The idea originated in a 2015 white paper from the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL), which posited that the current level of investment ($10 billion worldwide) is sufficient to fund the transformation to OA within existing publishing structures: a system in which 60% of the market is controlled by five publishers who maintain excessive profit margins.
