The crowdsourcing of metadata to expose and promote hidden collections is a significant and growing development in libraries, archives and museums, and offers hitherto unparalleled mass-collaborative potential for digital humanities projects. Originating from the field of citizen science, the online Zooniverse platform has been successfully utilized for this purpose by institutions including the Imperial War Museum, the Folger and the Huntington. This session presents recently published original research¹ in order to analyze and explain the automated quality control features of this major metadata crowdsourcing digital platform. “Mapping Manuscript Migrations” is a digital humanities project that brings together three distinct data sets about the histories of more than 215,000 medieval and Renaissance manuscripts for browsing, searching, and visualization. Four leading institutions from Great Britain, France, Finland, and the United States collaborated on this project, pooling their expertise in Semantic Web technologies and medieval manuscript curation and research, as well as contributing their own data from the three contrasting datasets. Technological evolutions have impelled libraries to incorporate all-encompassing, user-friendly and technology-driven service delivery approaches in academic libraries. Emerging technologies seem to fill this perceived gap. This study brings to light the level of awareness, adoption, preferred and readiness for the incorporation of emerging technologies into academic libraries activities in Nigeria. Metadata remediation of digital collections is inevitable. At some point, each repository faces the need to clean-up digital collections legacy metadata so that it conforms to new standards. Typically, this need emerges either as a response to an updated metadata application profile, or as preparation for migration to a new digital asset management system (DAMS). Normalized metadata is critical for an improved search experience and easy discovery of digital objects.

While Ann Allen Shockley’s literary career has received a wealth of critique, her work as a librarian and her writings about Black Special Collections have not received as much analysis. When viewed through the lens of Critical Race Theory (CRT), Shockley emerges as an activist- librarian, one worthy of further study and consideration. Her writing and instruction on Black special collections highlight the liberatory potential of collection building to address the marginalization that traditional cataloging and classification systems impose on materials about the experiences of Black people. The study attempted to design the ontology of Library and Information Science theses of central universities of India to visualize the doctoral research output in Library Information Science. The study also attempts to develop the ontology using ‘Methontology’, which is an ontology engineering methodology to explore the method. This Ontology contains 247 concepts, 244 Individuals, 125 Object property assertions, 85 Data property assertions. The developed ontology was evaluated and made sure that it meets the information need of its users and it has been found that Ontology could answer the majority of the questions after evaluation. This session reviews an approach to refreshing policies, procedures, and practices following a migration to a library services platform (LSP). Using a method of intensive collaboration, we revised and developed new workflows to optimize consortial and international standards while evaluating and updating local policies and procedures with a critical eye. We designed templates and procedures incorporating standards established by Collaborative Futures partners, and including other international standards, such as CONSER, RDA, BIBCO and PCC.
